I have two solar cam pan units and this week one of them began to no longer have 100% charge like they usually do from recharging via the solar panel.
the app shows that the solar panel is plugged in (little lightning bolt symbol on the battery meter icon) however in the section below that, in power manager, it shows 0 solar energy recharging.
I unplugged the solar panel from the camera and saw the lightning bolt icon go away. Replugged it back in and same issue. Lightning bolt is there but 0 charging.
i called support but they won’t even help since some geniuses screwed long wood screws into their camera batteries and ruined everything for the rest of us. Seems ridiculous that they won’t either replace my camera under warranty or replace the solar panel.
Anyone else had this issue? I am assuming it is not fixable but wanted to ask
Try swapping the panels between cams and see if the issue stays with the cam or moves with the panel. Will at least narrow down which thing is the issue.
If one part is dead you could potentially return it under the recall and wait until they are selling them again. They won’t be able to send a replacement until the recall is resolved.
I did think of that but the other camera is quite high up and I don’t feel like getting on an extension ladder to get to it, and then again to put it back together, etc. The broken one is high enough that it’s still a chore.
Another option if you can access the camera with issues is to try plugging a regular USB charger into it and see if it starts charging, and/or see if the solar panel will charge a cell phone or something simliar.
Wyze can’t help with anything with this model cam until the regulators give the “OK”. All they can do is refund them at this point. Nobody is going to mess with a recall, someone’s house burns down because they violated the recall and Wyze is out of business.
