I just set up my Solar Cam Pan yesterday. I fully charged it with the included short cable. Setup all went as described. Light on back of camera “ charge indicator” was blue then red when fully charged. All was as described.
The issue is that when I plugged in the solar panel. The light flashes blue then red but then goes out with nothing on. Not blue or red. Could something be wrong with the connector or panel. Panel is in bright sun and camera says 95% charged. Isn’t that charge indicator always supposed to be on? Either Blue or Red? If not blue is the Solar panel not sending a charge?
My understanding is that you should see it only when you’re charging the Cam via an AC/DC adapter, which I believe would also be the case if you wanted to plug the Cam in full time to provide continuous power (like if you wanted to choose Record Continuously in your microSD settings). The relevant Help Center article doesn’t note this, but maybe it should.
No. To see if the Cam is registering power input from the solar panel, check these:
The Cam’s Settings ➜ Power Manager should show this same information (battery percentage, battery charging icon, sun icon) on the Key Statistics line.
I don’t know if there is a “correct forum”, but I think Wyze Forum—as primarily a user-to-user support community—is a good place to ask questions, especially if you’re not receiving satisfactory assistance from the Support chatbot.
When I first set my Solar Cam Pan up… I had charged it fully as you did. Got it setup with the Solar panel plugged into the cam etc… Waited a few days… and monitoring the power information for that cam in the app…. I noticed the charge continuing to fall. I went and checked the camera….. I hadn’t quite plugged the solar panel cord completely into the plugin on the camera. I thought I had. But I hadn’t. I unplugged, and got it pushed in further and firmly. All is now good… and my camera is staying at 100% battery level. We get tons of sunshine and that panel is really doing a great job.
Thanks for mentioning that. I’ve seen other users describe that elsewhere. That port on Solar Cam Pan can be a little snug, so it’s definitely important to make sure the solar panel’s USB-C male connector is seated correctly. That’s a good reminder.
My understanding about the charging indicator LED, though—going back to the original questions—is that it doesn’t light up unless the Cam is being powered continuously, as from a recommended 5V ⎓ 2A adapter.
