Shared user playback option

nope! the opposite happened to me. roommate set it up and i paid and i can’t even use it! i’m so mad i already paid for a year.

I bought 6 v3 to find out my family can’t see playback. Saying I am frustrated is an under statement. Wyze please update or at least provide the vaseline!!!

My wife and I share a login so that she can have access to all the same features and functions as I do. We tried the share devices thing for a bit, but she didn’t have access to the SD card footage, and that’s when I gave her my login.

Make sure to visit the active existing wish list above and give it a vote to support it and help it along!

It’s utterly ridiculous that shared users can’t access the SD card.

I guess I go back to sharing my login with my wife for her phone.

When is this essential feature going to be added? Insane that Wyze has so many issues.

Your best bet for updates is to visit the Wishlist and set your notification level at the bottom of the topic to “watching”. This way you will be notified via the forum of future comments, updates, and status changes to the wishlist.

You should be able to give playback to other family members in the house. The event only captures a few seconds and often misses vital video information that is stored on the SD card. My only option is to share my password with my wife and mother in law who lives with us. I don’t have this issue with my NestCams. Can this be prioritized by Wyze?

Agreed. This is crazy that it’s showing from Feb of 2022 and it’s still not available.

This seems older than that! Man I just found this out after moving from Ring. I guess my wife can just sign into my account but I also have the Wyze Scale, if that’s synched to cloud then my weight will be all over the place. I will need to try that. Really wish bare minimum would be to add setting for guest vs admin

This is not an entertsinment thing. This is a security thing, and others in the household should have the right ro view playback, especially if ghe primary user is absent. Willing to pay a little more for that or learn about a workaround

I agree, this is embarrassing. Ive been a Wyze customer for years and have all gens of their cameras and doorbell but am now switching over to Blink or another value price competitor. Such a silly way to lose customers.

Another vote for this feature.

I would like to see this feature as well, but man, some people want to see Wyze burn to the ground because the one feature they deem important isn’t immediately implemented on your $25 cameras.

As a developer, I can see all sorts of reasons why this is hard. Accessing Events hits the Wyze server and not the camera. Accessing the live feed probably hits the camera, but if a lot of people are watching the live feed, there could be a case where a single feed is sent to the Wyze server and everyone watching gets the live feed from the Wyze server. However, watching the SD card requires everyone hit the camera. Having lots of people do that and all trying to fetch different time windows can be pretty taxing to our tiny devices, the SD card bandwidth, and the WiFi bandwidth.

I don’t think people are asking for concurrent playback. The issue already potentially exists with using multiple client devices (i.e. phone and tablet). If this was a concern, then there should some sort of session count and limit would need to be implemented.

I believe this is simply an authentication/authorization problem.

The fundamental thing is we are in 2024, soon to be 2025, good security practice says you do NOT share credentials. Even Wyze PRETENDS to care about security when they required multi-factor authentication, but they clearly did not think it through because without shared user playback, I MUST share credentials with my wife in order for both of us to access the recordings on the camera.

If I had to guess, the real reason they are not doing this to because they’re trying to prevent commercial use of the system. They could simply limit the number of guest users to a reasonable number like a 2-4 (there will still be complaints, but I think that would address the fundamental issue)

Yep, agreed. Some sort of cap on steams could fix this.

I guess I was just trying to shed some light on why Wyze might choose to not to add a feature. People are so quick to think they fully understand the issue and then demand the feature be added since it seems like an easy fix in their head. It’s not like Wyze sits around and tries to disappoint their users. Like you mention, maybe it is as simple as a business decision to not support it. Maybe it is a privacy issue - events are just for events a user chooses. SD access is 24/7 recordings that might contain more sensitive conversations at random times of the day. Or, maybe it is just a feature request that is really far down on their list.

I have no idea why this feature hasn’t been added. I came here from a google search trying to figure out why people I share to cannot see playback, so I want the feature as well. For now, I’m good just sharing live + events, with fingers crossed they add playback. However, reading a lot of the replies, some people are overly upset about it. I started on Ring, went to Blink, then Google, and now Wyze. None of them are perfect, but I do feel Wyze is pretty solid - and the price of their devices and services are crazy cheap.

Are there any class action attorneys in this group? I cry some type of copyright infringement here. I purchased the cameras and memory cards. The content is mine, it is not owned by Wyze! Am i the only one who thinks my videos are being held for ransom?

What are you talking about? Who is holding what for ransom and what copyright infringement?

You have full access to the videos on the SD card.

Then the videos on the SD card should be viewable by anyone I share the camera with.
