That’s not how it works. That is not an advertised or supported feature (at this time).
Hence, my complaint! Wyze does not own my local content and does not have a legal right to control it. I have not relinquished that right by any any waiver or other agreement.
Nonsense. You have no legal standing to compel Wyze to provide any arbitrary feature in their product. Your videos are on your SD card to do with as you wish. Good luck in court, be sure to come back and let us all know how it works out for you.
Welcome to the forum.
Great first post.
The content is yours but you did not create it. Find out what copyright is and how it applies to creative work. There is nothing creative in Wyze videos.
Nor is Wyze using it or making any claims to it.
Exactly. Some people just want to complain for sake of complaining
I ended up having to go with other camera which have this playback option for shared user. I am currently using CloudPlus camera which somehow have better feature… I don’t want to break out from the Wyze eco system but no choice if this is the feature I need and not available.
Hardly an arbitrary feature when most people on this thread and many other forums have a reasonable expectation that sharing the live feed and event playback also means viewing locally stored events on a user owned storage medium. I stand on my OP, are their any class action attorneys in this thread?
Illogical thought! Without me, the content does not exist. The work resides on my local media and it is under my management control. I am the originator and should have exclusive copyright to it!
Thanks for the warning, totally agree.
Thanks for rescinding your earlier comment.
While I agree this is a badly needed feature. I fail to see how a lawsuit would hold any merit. You are free to download, save, and share the content as you see fit. The thing that isn’t doable is sharing it directly in the app to a shared user. They could just as easily take the option to have shared users away then you would be stuck with anyone needing access having to use the same login.
I have been a Wyze user and advocate since the 1st generation camera. While researching this matter, I discovered sharing locally recorded events in the app has been a badly needed and requested feature for a long while. I have seen in some forums where a Wyze representative acknowledged they were working on it. A proceeding might spawn quicker progress. I agree, Wyze could remove features, but I believe they would be more interested in improving the integrity of the product, being transparent, and building trust.
You can’t sue a company to add a feature that you want that was never promised or guaranteed anywhere. Nor is copyright involved in any way here. The video is yours, you own it and have full access to it, nobody is claiming any rights to it. You are free to download and distribute that video to whomever you want.
Enough nonsense already.
I can have the gang’s lawyer help out for a good price. She’s a Possum but a really good lawyer.
Welp, so much for a productive thread. Unsubscribing due to the meaningless spam and bickering.
And your post would be considered…?
Nor was it implicitly stated that its not doable within the advertised sharing feature. The commentors here and on countless other forums believe sharing from within the app is a reasonable expectation. Even this thread goes back to February, 2022. You are correct, I own the recorded events, but I cannot use it as desired because of a Wyze limitation. Copyright belongs to the originator, not the equipment provider, and it gives the owner exclusive rights to control how content is used, AND not used.
And the next Lawsuit to make Lawyers more money will be when a shared user downloads a video the shouldn’t have.
