B&W Twilight Zone. Although not specifically Sci-fi I enjoyed episodes where they launched into space. Their spacesuits and rocket control panels were hilarious.

One of my favs was William Shatner (before becoming Kirk) sees a gremlin on the wing of the airplane at 20,000 feet.

There has never been another Rod Sterling .

Thank you. I have seen it several times. Even listened to the audio book.

(Very good quality.)

Here is a lesser known sci-fi. Possibly Don Johnson’s first movie. It’s a weird sci-fi movie with a great, unexpected ending. Made in 1975, depicting the future in 2024.

If you watched Denzel Washington in “The Book of Eli”, you might have caught the “Boy and his Dog” movie poster in an abandoned garage.

I don’t recall that, but since I’m not familiar with this film, it likely wouldn’t have registered with me. I see that this one’s available on Kanopy, so I added it to my watchlist. Thanks for the recommendation!

“That’s Tron. He fights for the users.”

I was really surprised to see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow on that list. I think that’s an underrated movie, especially considering how it was made.

Time Bandits is also a good call, I think. Then let the kids grow up a little before exposing them to more Gilliam, like Brazil (1985) and 12 Monkeys (1995).

I don’t think I’ve seen that one yet. I tried to watch the Trailer, but Youtube is having streaming problems at the moment (confirmed by downdetector). So I’ll check again later.

Which?

Rachel Welch was always memorable in Fantastic Voyage.

Was Dr. Theopolis a portable AI bot?

(Buck Rogers in the 25th Century)

When I asked AI to draw a circular AI bot it gave me this?

This is one of my favorite childhood board games, though I know nothing about the film(s).

This series may be something totally different. It’s a bit campy.

Loved Time Bandits… and Explorers.

I can get down with all of those movies EXCEPT flight of the navigator. I’d replace it with Enemy Mine or The Last Starfighter.

That would make a good avatar.

You should add some text. People may not recognize this era.

This one is from 1902, the year @peepeep was born.

That’s one I thought of when reading the article, too. I occasionally say “What the :poop:?!” because of that movie.

I would’ve also considered Forbidden Planet (1956) and—given the Disney fare on the list—The Black Hole (1979).

Depending on the age/maturity/attention span of the kids, I’d also suggest 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and Metropolis (1927).
