Totally agree on the manual, didn’t get one with the vacuum today either

I was 100% surprised there was no docs with this and really really want a manual to explain features.
To your question, the thermostat is a smart thermostat and one of those smart features is to adjust the schedule if you are home/away. The full learning aspect isn’t listed until early 2021 but I think part of that is detecting if you are home/away and adjusting accordingly.
To that end the “away” temperature preference should ONLY be used if you are actually away from the house because a person walking past the thermostat will be detected and the thermostat will switch back to home mode. The idea here being you set up a schedule that fits how your day normally looks, but if you leave early or come home early or run an errand, the thermostat will switch modes automatically so you don’t have to add a new schedule or manually change it.
Personally I’ve simply set up a schedule for Home and Sleep and use the auto switch function to set away for me.
I would just keep it simple. Create multiple Home blocks in schedule with different temps levels for periods of the day, when you’re home. Easy. Home is home. Away is away. Sleep is sleep.
