Rough day for the trash can

In your video in post 6, are they dumping the black trash and the blue recycle bins into the same truck?
It’s a little hard to see the can colors for sure in the video.

Decades ago when trash cans were metal and a person dumped the cans into a bin on the trash truck, the trash company had a billing insert asking people to make sure the cans were in good shape because they kept having workers injured by sharp edges on damaged cans. The backlash they got was huge because for the most part the metal trash cans were damaged by the trash guys slamming the side of the can onto the edge of the bin on the truck. And of course the customers had to buy the trash cans in those days.

Yes it all goes in the same truck which has two separate compartments, one for recycle the blue bin and one for garbage the Brown bin. Another truck comes by and collects the green waste from a large green bin if you leave it out for them.
If you look close you will see the cover for the recycle side close before he dumps the trash in the far side of the truck.

So…They do use high tech for trash.
Are they going to replace the trash truck driver with A.I. soon?

AI probably couldn’t turn the truck around with hitting something like to Robotaxi cars in San Francisco do.

I doubt AI could recover.

Or as Ace Ventura would say “like a glove!”

Nice recovery with that “O” turn. I tried that once with my father’s big 1967- 427 Ford Galaxie but a mailbox and it’s post got in the way. I had to replace the mailbox and post the next morning in the freezing weather.

Busy neighbors.

Not busy enough, nobody but their trash in you can today yet.

Here is more trash can abuse.

I picked it up before anyone hit it.

In the good old day when the garbage guys/gals had to work for a living they would stop the truck, throw the trash in the truck, put the cans back and drive to the next. Now they sit on their a$$ pushing buttons or pulling levers making a mess.
Soon the drivers will be replaced by a robot driver. :robot:

I just realized a good work around for this. If they try to make me pay for a replacement, I will tell them we only want 1 trash can now so they’ll take away a broken one. Then in a few weeks I’ll tell them we want to pay for another trashcan now that it’s getting close to Holidays where we’ll have extra trash. Poof, no fee replacement.

Now if I can just be awake during business hours to ask them for this instead of working graveyards all the time…

I had to submit a picture of the damage and I had a new garbage can the next day. A big 96 gallon cart.

I know this is late response but I only read once in a while since most is problems, but I love the videos and comments the most! Lots of funny people here. Anyway…
We used to share cans with neighbors, if they had too much and ours was low they put it in our and vice versa. Also our garbage co. has cameras on the truck bins and side to show pick up and what is dumped, in case you didn’t sort correctly (just kidding, not sure why) but we can go on line and see. They also replace/fix free because trucks dropping the cans breaks the wheels quite often.

I recently gutted a room in the basement that had about 20 feet of laminate butcher block countertop as a bench. The trash company didn’t want it. Our local large item pickup doesn’t take wood.

I cut it into 2 foot sections with a chainsaw and put it in the bin… Every trash pickup gets a piece… :sunglasses:
