Robot Vacuum Suddenly Stopping & Turning Off

For the last week (3 Times) the vacuum will just stop in the middle of the room & turn off for no reason. I walk it to the charger & check the app & there is 21% left on charge.
The vacuum is unresponsive until it is connected to the charging station.
Because it turned itself off it won’t continue when recharged, I have to choose the room to finish.

Alright, it just happened as I was typing this out.
This time I opened the app first & it said the vacuum was offline.
So I guess this is my issue. I have a Wi-Fi hub in every room (Google Wi-Fi) so a connection shouldn’t be an issue.
Is there a Wi-Fi sensor I can check or clean…??

Anyone have any ideas on what to do here…??
Thanks

Start by checking the charge level, and monitor it during a cleaning cycle.

The battery might be at the end of its life.

It’s usually between 15-20%…battery was replace in March of this year.
It’s stopped in about the same spot the last 2 days, so I rebooted the hub.
Gonna see what happens tomorrow.

No, it failed at 9% battery. It just died again, I was watching it in the app when it stopped. It vacuumed the entire house, but map shows only the last room where it died.

Battery is the CITYORK from this thread:

In my notes I have the below. Forget where I got that from, but I found another mention.

My original battery is at 3 years, one of my most recent runs is 437 ft^2 @ 48min with 88% battery consumption. This is with standard suction level and on carpet (which I imagine will use a bit more power than on hard floor).

I avoid the auto-redock function and just limit the cleaning amount by room selection, which I prefer to do anyways.

For something to clean related to battery life, make sure to clean the charging contacts with isopropyl alcohol regularly.

Based on some other experiences I’ve heard about, this unit may have an automatic battery calibration routine. Usually that would be done by running the vacuum until dead, then re-docking it and letting it charge overnight (Just because it says 100% charge, it may actually still be charging).

I don’t know if there was an update or not.
Everything starting going wrong on 11/19.
It didn’t even records today cleaning.

Pretty sure it needs to complete and dock successfully before it uploads the cleaning history.

If you end up doing a factory reset, re-add it using the same name BEFORE removing the older (duplicate) entry. It will keep the maps that way.

I just finished a factory reset. Kept everything but the map, not a big deal.
The map did show for a second, but the vac kept asking to remap.
I’ll post back later with the results.

Died at 9% it just won’t return to charge in order to finish the job.
I think that is the entire issue, it just won’t return anymore.

It does return if it only does 1 room.
So it seems that the low battery trigger to recharge is the problem.

Yeah, might have just got unlucky with quality of the new battery.

I just run mine by selecting the rooms since I had too many issues doing a full vac. My battery will no longer do a full cleaning anyways.

It does appear your replacement battery is not up to snuff.

Unfortunately, some battery companies inflate their mAh ratings.

I have a 4 bay tester that will accurately determine the real mAh rating of 18650 batteries.

Another method I use is to weigh the individual batteries. The cheaper batteries weigh less.

Some even use 18650 cells from recycled laptop batteries.

I can’t find the link for the exact battery I bought from an AliExpress seller so buyer beware.

I guess the battery thinks it has more power left than it really does.
To fix this until I buy another battery, I created another schedule.
One to clean 3/4 of the house & the second to finish the rest.
This worked today, when the cleaning was finished it returned to charge, then 3 hours later it finished the house & returned.

What’s funny is when I did a support chat with Wyze, once I said the battery was replace they told me my warranty was voided. I said yes, that’s because you don’t sell batteries. Anyone that replaces a part voids their warranty. It made me laugh.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Since Wyze is not a US company, the Magnuson-Moss act does not apply.

“Warrantors cannot require that only branded parts be used with the product in order to retain the warranty.”

Years ago, auto manufacturers wanted to void warranties when aftermarket parts were used for a repair.

Mine was doing the same, turning off mid clean. Replaced the battery and it works fine. Now if I can get it to stop disconnecting itself from the charger…
