Red and Yellow dots on the history page in the “Events of Interest” section, Descriptive Alerts feature

  • In the Wyze app In the Descriptive Alerts feature includes a history page in the “Events of Interest” section, and if I click on “view all” there is a page titled “history” page where I can review past events with detailed descriptions. On the upper left corner of each event, there is a dot that is either red or yellow or clear or nonexistent. What do those dots mean?

I don’t know, but if I had to guess, I would say it is is an indication of “the importance score” for “The NBD Filter” where they have the AI rate each video on a scale of 1-5 how important the event might be. Maybe the colored dots are representations of what score/category the event falls under.

That was my guess when I read this, too, but I’m not on that plan. I wonder if @ronl4625 or @Earl.Automation have input, as I believe they’ve both commented about their use of Cam Unlimited Pro.

What are you quoting?

Thanks! I rarely read the blog, so I was just curious about the source. :+1:

I cannot correlate the dots to the type of filter. Went through 3 days, ~150 events. All but one were yellow or white. I saw both colors multiple times on the same camera.

The one color exception was a red. It was for a coyote walking past the Bird Feeder. It was our dog.

I think we’re guessing.

I think you’re right, but I still appreciate the input! :+1:

Same on my end. I had not actually noticed the dot before. Bravo to you for even seeing it! But I can find no answer as to how to shape the A.I. I’m hoping there is a reveal on Wyze Day for being able to tune the NBD filter a bit.

I think they said they are not notifying when events fall in the #1 / #2 category that is listed, when using the NBD Filter. I’m not 100% on that and too lazy to go look it up.

Either way though, we need a way to tune it or understand what it is “tuned to”.

I just asked ChatGPT:

Here’s what I found in deep‑research mode: the colored dots you’re seeing in the Descriptive Alerts → Events of Interest → History page of the Wyze app indicate the AI “importance score” assigned to each event by Wyze’s No Big Deal (NBD) Filter, which rates events on a scale of 1 to 5 in terms of how noteworthy they are .

According to explanations from forum users and Wyze documentation:
• Red dot likely marks a high‑importance event (e.g. score 4 or 5): things that are unusual or possibly critical.
• Yellow dot probably denotes a moderate‑importance event (score around 3): events that may warrant attention, such as a package arriving or a person briefly seen.
• Clear or no dot would correspond to low‑importance events (score 1–2): routine movements like passing cars or pets, considered “no big deal” and often filtered out from push notifications .

This aligns with how Wyze’s system ranks motion events:
• Score 1 = very low importance,
• Score 3 = moderate,
• Score 4–5 = higher importance worthy of notifying you .

Very interesting.

Based on this synopsis, I checked my cameras for the ones that I know alerted and ones that had other events and didn’t alert.

I’m not 100% sure but I think I’m getting alerted on some Yellow Dots (if camera has alerts on) and not getting alerted on some other Yellow Dot Events. I need to enable notifications and see what happens according to the colors.

Controlling Dot notification level (1-5) would be cool.

Good catch. My only red the AI said it was a coyote. It was our dog of which the cameras have caught 100’s of times. But the red was a good call. A coyote in the back yard would be a problem.

Like @Earl.Automation said. Going to have to see if I’m being notified. I don’t remember a notification. I was to busy looking for the human that the AI keeps seeing on the side of our house. Must be Casper.
