Recording SD Playback - Crop-like feature / start-end time parameters

I would really find it useful to input a start and end time and be able to download the video without having to watch the video in real time to record it to my phone. I hope they consider this.

Here’s a related Wishlist topic you may want to vote for:

There’s a way around this. If you want to select a period of time to download off of your SD card, or if you want to push a continuous feed to a NAS (or both!), I have the answer for you.

Buy a Tapo cam instead. I just replaced all of my Wyze cams with them. They are cheaper, have higher quality video (2k vs 1080p) and are in every way a superior product to Wyze Cam. Time will tell if TP-Link supports the Tapo with new features, but they can’t be any more deaf than Wyze.

I do not work for TP-Link, I’m just a long-time frustrated Wyze Cam customer who is slowly but surely replacing every Wyze product I own with better products.

There’s a way around this. If you want to select a period of time to download off of your SD card, buy a Tapo C120 cam instead. They’re cheaper, have higher quality video (2k vs 1080p) and are in every way a superior product to Wyze Cam. I just dumped all my Wyze cam v3’s.

Ok wait, you STILL can’t select a start and end time when you want to download a clip? I had many Wyze Cam v1 and v2s, and I ditched them a few years back solely because of this issue. Even my Dropcams (remember them?) from 2013 could do this.

Yesterday on a whim I bought a v4 cam thinking this MUST have been addressed by now, but no. This is absurd. I’m returning it immediately. Stupid me for thinking Wyze would catch up to 2013 technology.

FWIW, hitting record and waiting in real-time until the clip you want ends is not a solution. Downloading several one-minute clips from the SD card and hand-stitching them in a video tool is not a solution.
There is no excuse that Wyze can spin here to justify this glaring flaw.

Buyer beware.

Security Camera Playback Issue

Currently, sharing footage requires manually recording the playback in real time. When a long time frame is requested, this becomes very time consuming and impractical. It would be much more efficient to have a feature that allows users to select a specific start and end time and directly export or share that footage without having to sit and watch the entire playback.

People have been asking for this for years. It’s such a no-brainer feature add, but Wyze doesn’t listen. They just find new ways to shove automation into products no one wants automation in. It’s why I stopped buying their stuff. Good luck though, hope they finally fix this gaping flaw that my Dropcam could do in 2013.
