Person Detection Update: A New Experiment for Premium Features

Most people are not seeing this behavior. There are people using these as dash cams with no Internet connection.

The cams will continue to record to the SD card if internet goes down, however if you lose power before the cam will start recording again it has to connect to the internet, but once powered and as long as it maintains power it will record to the SD card.

Sorry, wrong. My front door cam stopped notifying. Good connection to the internet, Person detection pilot, but now it can’t tell me there is a pilot at my door. It is now taken down and replaced with a cam that works, and fast. Where do you come up with a dash cam idea ?

I believe he was referring to people claiming that it stops recording to the SD card upon loss of internet

No, you’re wrong.
I built a doghouse out of pancakes.

Nothing to do with PD notifications, but actually quite practical with the current Wyze V2 cams

The camera force me to do a reset because it would not connect without it. As part of the reset, it identified as a cam plus device not one that has been out there already part of the person detection pilot for almost a year already.

I spent a lot of time reviewing false positives and false negatives and helping the AI get smarter. But now I don’t get to use person detection unless I pay for it on that camera?

I got mine after Nov2019. So I won,t get person detection without CAM Plus.

I am not going to update my firmware.

As far as I can tell the xnor person detection is ignored and all the detection is done by Wyze from the uploaded motion clips. I can tell because one of my xnor cameras which for me had perfect PD detection is now detecting persons walking way in the back of the view Outside of my detection mask and detecting other stuff that’s not a person.

If you haven’t seen this yet, everyone check out the new Alexa announcement feature for Wyze person detection. It absolutely rocks!

This is very interesting!

So right now I think my xnor’s are getting a 14 day free trial PD or something? Unless the accuracy AND SPEED are ruined, I don’t especially care if Wyze want to hijack the PD into the cloud, I just want it to stay free for xnor cams. :grinning:

Sadly I think this whole pay-for-play scheme (financially necessary as it may be for Wyze) is the reason why Wyze has ignored repeated requests for better detection zones, momentary event exclusion, etc for years!

howdy…just be aware that the CamPlus subscription service isnt avaiable outside the
US

It is available in Canada and USA.

It is also available in Canada as @gyzmo has pointed out.

Here’s a question I don’t know if anyone raised - if someone selects anything BESIDES $0, what happens if they stop paying? If someone agrees to $5 per month and doesn’t pay the bill in month 14, will they be downshifted to a $0 contribution level, or will they suddenly lose service and find themselves wishing they had just written down zero?

Score one more reason why ads will save the day and keep WYZE alive. Thanks.

I will have to verify to be sure but I think you can change the amount you pay, including from x amount to 0

So does this mean that even if people from outside US/CA who will lose their PD, want to pay to keep it, they will not be able to do so? How is it enforced that someone from outside US/CA cannot subscribe?

I am thinking the same. I really don’t want to pay for PD, as the free PD is the reason why I choose for Wyze over other cams. I have a few cams on xnor, other ones have the most recent firmware. I don’t even care that I can’t do firmware updates anymore, as long as I can keep the free PD.

Yes all my Wize cams work well with Tiny cam.
The only downside is that Tint Cam has to be running for any detection to take place. Battery Life. If it’s on a mobile device!
