In response to the numerous requests for a peephole-type camera similar to the Ring brand, I would like to inquire about the reasons behind the lack of a response to these requests. I currently own a Ring peephole camera but discontinued using it due to the introduction of monthly fees for online feeds and storage. As a loyal Wyze cam customer with six cameras, I am eager to add a Wyze peephole camera to my collection. However, I am not satisfied with the current cameras available for the front door area. I would appreciate it if you could consider developing a peephole camera specifically designed for this purpose.

That is a great question. It seems like a missed opportunity not to offer such a useful product. I would buy one for my house, but I am sure many apartment dwellers would find these cams quite useful.

I wonder what the answer is to this question? I would go for a battery or wired-powered peephole unit. Seems if they can make a window mounted camera, this should not be too difficult.

If we go back and look at all the discussions on a “peep hole” camera, it was not just for a door. I talked about wanting several. Not just one camera purchase. I wanted to drill a hole on the 2x10 that faces across each side of my garage, so the cameras would be mounted flush and though not hidden instead not clearly sticking out as a camera. I still want to be able to see 90 degrees from the front of my garage door opening before and after the door is opened - oncoming cars and accident avoidance, but not in clear view so someone could vandalize it.

The point is, they would not sell just one to even existing customers.

I’d be interested not in a reason but in more insight into the Wishlist progression process, like how often Wyze employees actually review them, how things are prioritized for exploration and development, etc. It’d be cool if they could maybe do a periodic (quarterly?) annoucement in Wyze News about which ideas they’re considering, want more feedback on, etc., especially if they want to be proactive in soliciting community input.

I definitely would’ve been interested when I lived in apartments. Something like this wouldn’t work for my current dwelling unless I drilled the front door for a hole, but I’m already using a video doorbell and a Window Cam in the sidelight, so the coverage is pretty good there. If something like this had pronounced fish-eye like a typical door viewer, then I could see it giving good coverage for packages and other things left in front of the door, so there’d be potential value to adding something like that.

Especially if they can launch something like Window Cam (which I do like), this seems like a deficit in their portfolio.

Welcome to the Forum, @huskerakb!

Yes, I agree. But I think we are left with “clearly they do not bother to read it, else they would comment pro or con on why an idea, a suggestion, a request was reasonable or not do able. So, they leave us with an absence of anything to look forward to.

One or Juan, would think a peephole like camera would be a killer product. No one is doing anything near it. And think of the dozens of applications around your home - on your property for one. One that was a straight lens, another that was fisheye.
