Pan V3 seems to not even acknowledge SD card

Odd, haven’t heard of anyone losing live stream with the latest app and firmware. I do vaguely remember something recently that only affected iOS users, but can’t recall what it was. Believe it has been fixed though.

Well, there was that person, rechristy007, who had their V3 brick by the latest for more update on June 22, you were part of that forum discussion.

What I think is odd, is that all of my V3 cameras, with me not doing any firmware updates on any of them, which is about eight cameras, all stopped recording to the SD cards at the same time. I had a new one that was still in a box and set it up. It recorded to the SD card. But it no longer does. So it was plagued with the same issue as my other cameras. So I can only assume, that Wyze pushed something down to the V3 cameras. I see several forms where other people are having the same problem, not just this forum.

The SOLUTION TO CAMERAS NOT RECOGNIZING CARDS is to take sd card out and reformat it per the instructions. Worked perfectly for mine and I’ve had no issues for over 6 months.

It was obviously a firmware update that did something to the cards. I’ve reformatted my sd card and have had no more issues. Pretty easy to do.

Did you format it in the camera, or on your computer? I formatted within the camera, and still had the same can’t find the card to record to issue. I’ve formatted the card in windows and told it to fix any errors. I tried doing this on just one of my V3 cameras, guinea pig, and still same issue.

Thank you for sharing what you did and that it worked. I’m glad it worked for you. It’s just odd that all eight of my cameras at the same time quit recording to the cards.

The cam pan v3 sdcard issue has existed much longer than it needs to be. Wyze seems to hoping the problem and users with the problem will disappear. A half-hearted effort was made with an attempt to have users with the issue submit info to them but there has been no resolve.

You cannot format the sdcard in the cam if it is not recognized. I have formatted in my pc and with the sdcard.org formatter to no avail. I have 3 pan v3’s, 2 with the issue and 1 with no issue. I’ve just stop buying Wyze cams since my last v4 buys until this is resolved. I have 20+ cams in use including floodlight and doorbells.

I am currently experimenting on trial with a couple Blink Outdoor 4’s. The AI is not as extensive as Wyze but what is there is far superior. Telling me someone is walking on the driveway with a shovel or leaf blower, the color of a vehicle passing on the street and a vehicle driving on the lawn and it’s color. As I stated am in trial and not likely to pay for 2 separate subscriptions.

i have 5 wyze cam, all not recognize my sdcards

Format it on your computer. FAT32 I believe.

That was a regular v3 and not just that it couldn’t view the live stream, that it totally became unresponsive, that’s some other issue.

Are these Panv3s or regular v3s? They’re actually totally different cameras released a couple years apart, just a poor choice of naming on their part.

I’ve definitely seen reports of people with issues with SD cards on the Panv3s, including @crease but only one of his, it has not happened to either of mine and they’re two different revisions of the Panv3 gotten about 6 months apart. Actually I even have a third one that was rain damaged, after the good ol’ back of rice trick it works perfectly including SD card (well a bit of noise when it pans as some dirt got washed into the gears). Seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Maybe once the cam has an SD card fail in it, it gets “stuck” in that state or something, or maybe it is just a certain lot of cams that had defective SD controller chips.

Some said the updates have fixed it, others it did not. I suspect the ones that didn’t get fixed may have been unrelated failures but that’s just a guess.

Given that many people, including yourself, had multiple ones stop working around the same time it did appear that it is related to an app update or maybe a back end server thing. I don’t think they actually pushed anything to the cams themselves, but who knows, they do have the ability to turn features on and off without a software or firmware update. But keep in mind that just about everything on these cams requires interaction with the Wyze servers, so something on the back end could have been causing it. Though the fact that software and firmware was released to address it makes it seem like something in the cams themselves.

Its a bit of a mystery. If I had one, you can certainly bet I’d be trying all kinds of things to see if I could make any sense of it, but if it is a back end or internal software thing, there wouldn’t be anything I could find anyway most likely.

I never format it in the cam, always using the formatter from sdcard.org, basically the only way to reset an SD card or thumb drive (which is just an SD card) to “factory defaults”.

However doing this did NOT solve the issue for most people prior to the fix. Maybe after the fix (firmware and software) it does?

That being said I hardly ever have a need to format the cards, I’ve got Samsung Pro Endurance in them all and they’ve been going 3 years straight 24x7 recording with no formatting. The only one I did was when I switched from an OG to a v4 at my front door, since many of the cams use somewhat different file structures, made sense to refresh it. Even then, I just did a quick format using the sdcard.org util.

Not saying there is a problem with the internal formatter per se, but if the card or file system has gotten corrupt, the cam isn’t equipped to deal with that. It just does a “quick format” of whatever file system is on there. Wouldn’t hurt to try taking the card out of one of your cams and doing a full overwrite format with that utility. While it is doing that (takes a while), do a factory reset on the cam. When you set it back up, as long as you give it the same name, it will pick up most of its settings, as long as you don’t delete it from the app first. Though for the sake of being thorough, maybe delete it from the app first, which will factory reset it, then factory reset it again for the sake of being super thorough. Give it a slightly different name when you re-add it. That should force all new settings to synch with the wyze server. It isn’t that hard to set the stuff up again, especially if you take screen shots of your settings.

But the image quality is awful on the blinks, at least compared to other brands, especially at night? Wyze has the descriptive notifications too but I think it is $200 a year But blink needs a subscription for most features too.

What model cams? Do they have the latest firmware and app? What kind of SD cards - have you confirmed they work ok in a PC or other device?

Have you tried doing a full overwrite format with the sdard.org formatter you quoted?

tried all differnet format , also farmated on different machie, same sd card can read by car dash came.

Garbage Can Fix is best for Wyze cams

Get another brand and end the troubleshooting after bad Wyze updates and services.

Haven’t had any issues with my Reolink’s & Tapo’s, meanwhile in Wyze land it’s never ending :rofl:

Yeah, that was the case for a long time but no longer, as I now have two problem Cam Pan v3s.

I think I first reported the difference between my Cam Pan v3s (I have two, different colors [unlikely to be a factor, I think], purchased and activated months apart) back in the summer of 2024, when the newer Cam was having microSD card problems but the older one wasn’t. Something happened—who knows what, but there seemed to be some progress during a Fix-It Friday that summer—and my newer black Cam began to behave for a while. Then in December 2024 it developed microSD problems again, as I’ve documented elsewhere.

Eventually I relegated that Cam Pan v3 to RTSP testing and troubleshooting, so that’s my go-to when a Forum user reports a problem with RTSP/RTSPS and I want to try to replicate something. It’s got a card in it, but I have recording turned off.

Sometime this year, my other Cam Pan v3 (older, white) also started showing the failure message when trying to view the microSD card recording timeline: “No video available at this time.” I don’t know exactly when that started, but it didn’t seem to coincide with an app or firmware update, so I don’t believe that’s the cause. Because that Cam is in a non-critical area and because I have a subscription capturing cloud events, I haven’t done any real troubleshooting with it, though I should probably at least pull the card at some point to have a better idea of when the recording stopped.

I agree. Despite repeated claims from multiple users that an app or firmware update has hosed many Cams, I have seen no discernible pattern to this problem nor direct evidence to support that assertion.

Yeah, and I think I would, too, especially if I depended on these Cams for a particular thing and wasn’t using a subscription. For the newer black Cam that first developed the problem, I’ve tried about everything I can on my end, including factory resets, full --overwrite formats with the SD Memory Card Formatter, different cards, etc., but nothing I’ve done has seemed to resolve the problem, so from my perspective it looks like some kind of defect in individual cameras or camera batches or some kind of back end thing that still hasn’t been fully resolved, and, given the way the issue seems to come and go (like when Wyze says they’ve changed something to fix it), I’d still guess it’s the latter. I was optimistic when I saw someone from Wyze initiate Looking for Users Experiencing SD Card Issues (Cam Pan v3 / v4, Cam v3 / v4) that they’d finally make some real progress with this, but I haven’t seen Wyze provide any new information there for a long time, so I really have no idea where they are with investigating or resolving this.

I would debate the image quality as I find it quite good on the outdoor 4’s for the trial version I am using. Granted there is now the 2k version of the 4’s, but for my needs what exist is very adequate. I have the XR Synch Module but so far the cams have connected and are performing on home wifi without need to extend to 400 or 800 range options. I would only consider adding a couple 2k models if I was going to expand Blink system and pay for a subscription.

I only use Sandisk 256gb high endurance cards and have had no issues except on the cam pan v3’s. Factory resets, formatting the cards on sdcard.org and pc did not solve the issue. App and cams are all on the latest firmware.

Format for sdcards 32gb and higher should be ex-Fat although Fat32 is ok on a 32gb card. Although it will not resolve the not recgnize issue with the cam pan v3.

Unless something has changed, the LFR is used just for control signals, video still goes to the synch module via your wifi. The synch module also seems to be able to handle only 1 or maybe 2 cams sending video at a time, one of the many things my neighbors got aggravated about when they ditched their Blink systems.

Having the same issue with my v3 pan… using a SanDisk High Endurance 256GB micro SD card. Here is the Device Info page for my unit.
