I setup a new to me Cam Pan V2 with 2MFA, but some how someone keeps viewing my live feed. The moment I walk up to unplug the camera the red live view light turns off. I have a Palo Alto firewall and I am blocking everything I can found in the logs outside Wyze sites and my mobile iphone’s IP addresses. If I flip off the person viewing, then they disconnect right away most the time. I belive my camera is being viewed by someone at Wyse that has some root or GOD account to all cameras, becasue I reset my password to a very long and complicated password with 2MFA and it still happened again the next day. Can some one here please explain how this is possible and how to prevent tihs? Cam Pan V2 4.49.16.6114 fully updated, This is preventing me from ever wanting to buy or even use Wyze again. How can I look at logs outside my firewall to see who has accessed my camera?
The red light turns on when it detects motion and will stay on for 5 or so seconds, are you sure it isn’t turning on as you walk up to it and you just notice when it turns off?
Did you factory reset the cam when you got it, and have you shared it with anyone or let anyone else use your login? If you honestly think someone is accessing it, Wyze does have a security team that can help look into things, but it makes sense to rule out “normal behavior” first.
Note that blocking things with firewall won’t really do anything, unless you totally block the cam (thus preventing it from working). If it is online and working, it is communicating with Wyze servers and anyone that has your login or has shared the cam will be able to view it. But like I said, you may just be seeing normal behavior of the cam, red light telling you it sensed motion and it is logging an event. If you have a subscription, this will happen every time there is motion. If not, it is a max of once every 5 mins.
Thanks; however, this is not normal as I can see the light turn red even if I am off to the side where I am not even on the camera with app closed after testing. As mentioned, I changed the password and did not share it with anyone. Also, I even lowered the sound and motion set to zero. I only use it as a cam to check when not home. it records 24/7 not motion, and a can wake in front of it all day without the red light coming on. The light only comes on when looking at live view.
I do know well how the camera works, Camera is not rebooting I can view it at the same time someone else is on or so it seems. Is there a way to see the logs? I see I can submit logs, but I want to see the logs for myself. Yes, I tried turning off everything and even have the camera facing the wall just to see if from time to time the red light comes on, and guess what it does here and there. I cannot say 100% ist is someone, but I sure are hell would like to know..
I don’t think their security email works anymore, but you can open a ticket with them via their support site and ask for security review of your account.
The only way someone is getting in with 2FA is if your phone/email/PC have been compromised with malware and they’re getting your info.
Have you tried totally disabling motion and sound detection to see if it still happens?
If someone is remote controlling your PC or phone and viewing your cams that way then you wouldn’t see an unknown device, however I would think you’d notice if someone was doing that.
