Quick question from the manual. It suggests that you do not mount the camera in direct sunlight. Why? I bought this specifically planning to watch my driveway which is on the south side of my house. Without putting something else into place to provide some shade, I can’t do that. Is it a heat issue? Image/glare issue?

Direct sun will result in horrendous glare rendering your image at the time basically useless. If your cam is mounted high and angled slightly downward, the length of time your cam is washed out will be reduced. And since your cam is facing South, you shouldn’t have much of a problem with sunrise glare. Midday direct sun will definitely heat your cam up. Many of us have cams out in direct sun and I haven’t heard of any meltdowns yet.

I live in the Southwest where July and August temps often reach 110 degrees or more.
I currently have two V2’s outdoors. They are facing west and are under the eaves, but they do get a few hours of direct late afternoon sunlight. So far, no problems.
I am currently testing my new WOC, and today I put it outside on the patio where it will be in direct overhead sunlight for several hours a day. I don’t plan on leaving it there for more than a few days or until it craps out.

I hear ya… but TOO HOT over there! lol. Actually, I’d take your heat over this humidity if I had to make a choice. I have v2 cams covering 8 compass points. The SE and W cams are blind for 30 minutes due to sun on the horizon. But all cams overlap in coverage so I’m not completely blind in any direction. The midday sun is never a problem with glare, but the cams not under eaves do get hot. Not as hot as the 2 attic cams though… they’ve been going for almost 2 years without hardware failure. I hope these outdoor cams survive equally well given the cost. Mine have been sitting outside exposed to sun, torrential rain, hail, 50+ MPH wind over the past 4 days. So far so good! I’m hopeful that Wyze will get some enhanced functionality out soon especially CamPlus and events-to-SD. Other than that I’m happy with them other than the finicky delayed start of recording when less than perfect signal strength.
Loving the amount of IR this outdoor cam puts out…

So far, heat has not been an issue. How about cold? Anyone living in Alaska using a V2 outdoors?

If no one chimes in, I’ll put an outdoor cam and a v2 in my deep freeze after I’m done playing with them outside. I think I have that freezer set to -12F.
