Is there any concern for leaving cameras on 24/7?
Welcome @dclmail47
I have not left my camera on 24x7, but have left the portal streaming and camera streaming for at least 12+ hours with no issues.
so I would say no concern with doing that. You may have different experienced depending on your internet provider and bandwidth utilization.
Just an FYI
Do you just mean powered on and recording? If so, that’s what pretty much everyone does and is what they’re designed for.
If you mean watching a live video stream, only concern would be using up your data if you have a cap, either on the viewing device or on the internet connection the cams are running through. Of course it will cause wear and tear on your phone screen too, especially if it is an OLED screen.
As mentioned above, the cameras are designed to be on 24/7 as for live view, mine are on for more than 12 hours a day. I have an iPad on my desk and live view is on from 5:00 am till I’m done work usually around 6:00 pm. Haven’t noticed any damage to the retina screen on the iPad and it’s been running for over two years now.
My oldest Wyze Cam v3 is three years old and still works like new. It has been Continuously Recording to the original SD card for three years too. I do only use High Endurance SanDisk brand cards.
I cycle cams on/off with automations. I charted times in the 24/7 period each cam doesn’t need to be on and created the automation accordingly. Most cams are external and some have some overlapping field of view. Front and rear db duos are the only 24/7 cams. Cycle schedules have worked out for me.
