ONVIF Protocol

+1 for ONVIF. I would really appreciate it.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a camera that is comparable to the Wyze Pan Cam v3 in features and price that supports ONVIF? Iā€™m looking to integrate some cameras with my Ubiquiti system and it doesnā€™t look like Wyze has any intention of adding this support. Thanks in advance!

Hey wyze, just a heads up. You gonna need onvif to get anymore sales out of me.

Iā€™m with you!

Time to sell my Wyze stock.

Panic in the streets.

Add +1 to ONVIF support request! Yes, I know this will mean a more expensive camera, but a line that specifically supports this would be awesome! Yes, Iā€™m a Ubiquiti user. So happy UI made this change to their camera support. Now, only if I could get my favorite cameras to work with it? Have an awesome day Wyze Guys!

I absolutely would love this and it would incentivize me buying newer and more cams.

When Wyze gets on board Iā€™ll be able to use them in my Unifi framework. At least thatā€™s the idea.

Wyze will never support ONVIF or RTSP. The cameraā€™s Ingenic based hardware is perfectly capable but those features would directly compete with their Cam Plus service. Your only option is to buy older Wyze cameras and use third party firmware. Wyze started locking the camera bootloaders for ā€œsecurityā€ which will stop you from loading your own firmware, so new or updated cameras wont work.

Its a shame their Wyze V3 ā€œProā€ doesnt support connecting to an NVR or VMS. The Wyze Cam formfactor is excellent for unobtrusive cameras, Theyā€™re not hidden, but they dont attract attention either.

Sadly, I think youā€™re right. Shoot, Iā€™d be willing to pay a on-time or yearly subscription to make all my cameras fully local to integrate of one of many NVR softwares, so I control my own data. Wyze, take my money!

This weekend I came to the conclusion that Iā€™m tired of not having ONVIF, tired of not having a reliable way to get my Wyze products into Apple HomeKit, and tired of having the constant worry of my data on Wyzeā€™s servers being exposed to other people. So I bit the bullet and have begun the process of flashing all of my Wyze cameras with Thingino firmware which gives them ONVIF and many other helpful protocols. Iā€™m now able to stream them into HomeKit Secure Video or any other platform I want. The downside (if you can call it that) is theyā€™re no longer on the Wyze app, but I have access through the Apple Home app so I donā€™t care.

If you are interested, check the project out online. Be aware that it will completely void your warranty with Wyze (such as it is) and will remove the device from the Wyze platform. Sorry, Wyze. You had your chance(s) to keep me as a camera subscriber.

This is quite exciting. Thanks for the tip!!! I flashed one of my V3ā€™s yesterday and it worked for the most part. Could never get the video to flow smoothly no matter what frame rate I chose. Strange. Anyway I wanted to use it in Blue Iris, but because of the frame rate, sadly I flashed it back to the Wyze RTSP firmware.

I have 3 of the V3ā€™s. One of the three did what youā€™re describing and the other two worked great. When I looked into the hardware, I found that the two that worked actually have a different (and assumedly better) chip set in them than the one that was flaky.

Then that could certainly be my issue. The one (well the only one) that I flashed causes me issues sometimes in BI itself. I will try aa different oner and see what happens. Thank you for your reply!

This is such an awesome project. For those who donā€™t know though, it will only really work for the older cams (V2, V3, Pan V1, Pan V2, FLv1, VDBv1).

Most of the newer camera models use something called Secure Boot which is a security feature intended to prevent hackers from adding malware to the camera to hack itā€¦but it also prevents you from installing modifications you want too, such as Thingino firmware. For this reason, you wonā€™t be able to change the firmware on any of the newer camsā€¦ā€œfor your protection.ā€

Personally, I wish theyā€™d stop using Secure Boot. I prefer the ability to customize stuff.

Yep. Going forward, Iā€™ll only buy cameras which are Thingino supported.

WUUK Y0310 and Y0510 cameras ($32 and $37 respectively) are currently on sale on Amazon Canada. It uses Ingenic T31X with SC401AI sensor which sensor is identical to Cam V4 (well one of possible three lottery sensors, the other two is OS04D10 and GC4653).

Thingino recently is testing Noorio T110 (T41NQ with GC4023 4MP sensor).

This site is pretty useful in organizing and listing the specs. However, it was last updated March 2 2025.

Well my second attempt at flashing didnā€™t work out quite so well. I chose a different v3 with the Wyze RTSP firmware on it and flashed it with the Thingino firmware and it has completely bricked my camera. I canā€™t go back and I canā€™t go forward. Oh wellā€¦ boo.

The guy that developed the instructional videos for ThinkINO has a video on restoring a bricked V3. https://youtu.be/4Tml_oYA46s?si=HnmMp-Ms1D5_qPbX

Thank you. I found that yesterday and viewed it then decided it was a bit much for such a low cost camera. I might just call it a day and move on to some other brand camera with RTSP already. Appreciate all you input and advice!

Certainly. Take a look at Reolink. My wired ones work great with ONVIF and RTSP. They now also have some 5Ghz wireless models. The pro versions donā€™t require a hub for ONVIF or RTSP.
