Here’s a good one for ya:
Someone posted on here about an OG sale someplace, I don’t remember where…
I found them even cheaper at Home Depot. Ordered three at $9.99 each, BARGAIN, NO? First one out of the box worked fine except everything was PINK. Called & sent in all requested info for warranty, wanted direct replacement but was told no OG’s in stock. I said fine, I’ll wait 'till they are.
Couple of days later, received an email offering me a $10 Wyze gift card in lieu of waiting for replacement.
WHAT? The sale is gone, a new one would be $30 & they’re not in stock anyway…WHERE’S THE LOGIC???
Why not just exchange it at Home Depot - you have 90 days and the sale was less than a month ago. If you bought online they’ll send another and either a label to return that one, or just tell you to keep/toss it.
Around here they carry them in store and you could just walk in and swap it out at customer service too (tell them you want to exchange it, that way you get the same price, rather than return and re-buy at the regular price).
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll give that a try.!
Just note that if you bought online, I’m not positive if you can do a direct exchange in store and get the same price since the two operate somewhat separately. They may be able to adjust the price for you, but probably easier to just chat their online customer service, have a new one sent for $10, then return the bad one to the store or by shipping back and get the $10 back.
I usually start with the online chat or call the 800 number and see what options they offer and pick whatever is going to be easiest for me.
A lot of times for cheap stuff they send another and just say toss the old one.
You may be able to get that one working by cycling night mode on and off several times to get the IR filter unstuck (sometimes tapping it or using a magnet can do it too) but no sense in fiddling with it if it is within the return period. If you get to keep it, maybe worth playing with.
I hope exchanging at a Home Depot store works for you.
I bought a tire pump at Lowe’s which did not work. Took it back the next day and Lowe’s gave me a refund on a Lowe’s gift card. Thought it was weird they just didn’t give me another one off the shelf. In my case the pump was still the same price from the day before.
They both refund by default even if you say you’re going to exchange, but if you tell them it is no longer on sale and you want to exchange it, they’ll hold it while you grab another so they can do it for the same price.
Or if you don’t want to do that, just buy another at full price, and return the defective one on that higher priced receipt. No moral dilemma as it all balances out for them in the end.
