Odd Time Zones and Problems with Playback

Just wanted to make others aware who are having issues with jumpy video; it could be due to your time zone settings. I live in Newfoundland, Canada and we are on an odd time zone (UTC-3.5hrs). While the cameras are able to sync to this time zone and show the correct time in the on screen time stamp, I can now confirm that it was causing the issue we were seeing with freezing video, jumpy video when trying to view recorded play back from a camera, and just a whole bunch of other problems which made the cameras almost useless.

After resyncing all my cameras to a “standard” time zone (I chose Atlantic Standard Zone with is UTC-4hrs), everything now works perfectly again.

So, if you are experiencing issues and have your cameras synced to a odd time zone, try changing to a standard one and see if it makes a difference.

Hi,

I am in Newfoundland as well and have been having the same issue. I have tried contacting Wyze support several times, but have never been able to get any help. I am ready to switch my three cameras to another brand. I just tried changing my phone time Zone to Halifax time zone like you suggested and syncing the time in the Wyze app and it fixed the jumpy playback issue. However, the live time is now off by 30 mins. Is this the only way around this or am I leaving out a step? @jtjohnston25

Nope, not missing anything. Just have to live with the time being 30 minutes behind until Wyze fixes the issue.
