Hello, it’s my first post here, so I apologize if I did something wrong. I have 4 Wyze Pan v2 cameras. Up until 2 days ago they all use to record to the SD card when “turned off” on the app. I don’t believe any of the firmware updated automatically, but it’s possible I guess. I don’t think that all 4 SD cards could have a problem because when turned on, they record fine. I turn them off because the monitors are in public view in my office. I never had an issue before because they always kept recording. I checked the settings on each camera and it says record continuously to SD card.
Did something change recently with the app? Is there another problem? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
I would expect the camera not to record when off via the app. The app “off” should turn off everything but the communication functions. Used the support AI and this is the response:
Thank you! It’s quite odd because it definitely did it before. I was turning them off every time I left the office but all the video was on the MicroSD card when I went back to review footage. But, maybe I’m going crazy, who knows. I guess I’m confused about this " * Continuous Recording: The Wyze Cam Pan v2 can continuously record video to a microSD card, even if the camera is offline. This means that as long as the camera has power and the microSD card is inserted, it will continue to record."
I guess they mean if it’s on in app but loses wifi signal?
Offline means it has lost its internet connection, and yes it will continue recording to the SD card, that’s one of the benefits of the SD card. Turning it off in the app stops it from recording, it disables video capture completely.
You say they are on screens, are you using Wyze Web View? Perhaps there is some feature in there that lets you turn off/pause the stream but not the camera itself? I haven’t used it so I don’t know the interface.
“App off” and “offline” are different things. Even more, “powered off” is different yet.
App off shuts down all but the communication functions so that the camera is still listening for the turn on command.
Offline means the camera is powered, but has no wifi. Continuous recording in this state does work, but when the camera was powered on, it needed wifi/Internet connect to authenticate with the server to start up correctly.
