I ran across a very similar issue with but on a Reolink pan cam post on Reddit. I’ve seen similar issues with pan cams here I think. I know the case here is a floodlight, but the similarities caught my eye.
As the pan moves say on a person, and crosses over the vehicles probably confuses the Ai and contributes to the flood light issue as well.
After some research, it occurs to me there may be a couple solutions. Not necessarily easy ones as it appear to be a universal issue across brands in different ways, Pan Cams, Flood, fixed etc. my outdoor V4s & OGs can occasionally mix up headlight wash as some kind of motion, typically person. AWS, confused Wyze cloud?
Possibly future ai improvement fixes it…TBD
A cheap and dirty brief, although maybe not easy, is Tasker and Autonotification if using Android. (I don’t remember and its a long thread)
Allowing if person is the first detection, then cancel vehicle, but also allow vehicle if its the first actual motion detection notification. Etc. especially during panning as in pan cams, to the degree possible. Whetehr its fix for floods qould need testing.
Another not so easy solution to most of those detections would be Home Assistant, Coral or similar TPU for speed and Frigate.
Frigate has many settings to mask and prevent most if not all false detections & could prevent “most” false notifications via HA OS. (If Wyze ever makes their cameras Home Assistant compatible AND exposes the detection sensors and RTSP.
I am not a Frigate or Tasker expert by a long shot, yet… So it’ll take research if any interest.
It gives me a headache, just thinking about doing either, but I’d probably personally jump in head first anyhow for the challenge.
I’d probably also consult an Ai occasionally with either, after triple checking what the Ai suggested. Lol
Other than those, it’s sensitivity settings, detection zones etc. tweaks, which I also don’t like doing.
A simple flash of the sun or a headlight occasionally on my garage can detect a person in my Pan Cam V3.
I have Tasker and Autonotification and its got all the Adb settings allowed, I may experiment on my garage indoor Pan V3 with my own suggestions. Until I get a TPU in my lab machine for Home Assistant.
Two cars sit in our garage and it never detects a vehicle because I have vehicles off for obvious reasons.
For my headache testing, how will I get Tasker to detect a flash of sunlight or a headlight?
Brain thinking,
Lux sensor right next to the Pan Cam V3. Usable in Tasker and HA OS, if Wyze ever decides to make some cams RTSP
.
Welp, that does it, new headache projects.
