No longer getting Vehicle notifications on Wyze Android app

So I’ve done some testing. I took our parked cars off our DZ and lowered the sensitivity a little bit.

Now I am getting more vehicle notifications, but they are spordratic. The event summary still shows almost all events as vehicle, however. I guess since this is working somewhat, I’ll keep it this way for a bit to see what happens and maybe it’ll fine-tune the AI a bit.

Hopeful for an app/firmware update in the near future regardless, but progress has been made here

After studying the pics you posted previously.

It occurs to me, the tags in Events are vehicles.

So lowering sensitivity may help a lot, so it doesn’t tag every car in the gap at the road.

If and when you are happy with your current test, try Smart again. You’ll have to play with sensitivity. I’d start at 50 or low enough to not tag vehicles on the road, even try blocking out the gap at the road in DZ.

I have to guess, but per your tags in the pics “should” trigger vehicle, that’s what its tagging.

As I previously mentioned, my V4 driveway cam has vehicle off, as soon as one pulls in, a person gets out and that sends me a notification. otherwise the road would spam me with notifications. 100s.

Why you weren’t getting notifications is another matter, and as we discussed, if yours accumulated rapidly to around 50, that might kick in the supposed Google or in my case Samsung block of notifications until swiped away. Assuming Google is the same.

Bur if you started with low notifications count that wouldn’t explain that.

Not trying to be a PITA, just trying to help and understand it myself.

The notifications have actually been increasing. I even looked at the app settings and the notification number has gone up from what it was before, so I’m guessing it’s somewhat getting back to normal. By having our cars blocked off. Seems to make a difference, but I really don’t think that should have to be the case.

Going to keep testing and we’ll see what happens.

And you’re not being a PITA. Haha. I appreciate any and all help on this one

The notification Ai is just inept. lol Like Gpt5 and Grok sometimes.

I think my first ever glass breaking notification came in today in about two years. It was Pan V3.

That Pan Cam has been in the garage a long time, the garage door going down triggered it, as far as I can determine anyhow.

But the garage doors have gone down hundreds of times before.

Just when I was about to automate glass break for security.

So the issue has been somewhat rectified.

I am now getting more notifications again BUT there is a catch. I have to shade out the DZ areas in the driveway where our cars are parked to actually get a notification.

I agree with you @G2740. I feel there is a glitch in the notification AI. It IS recording events when there is motion, but because there are parked cars in the driveway, they will be read as vehicles regardless. The AI is not sending out a notification as a result.

If I block them out, then it thinks the cars are NOT in the driveway, and will send me vehicle notifications when cars pass by.

I don’t feel it’s solved because it’s annoying that I have to keep going into the DZ to adjust accordingly, but unless they issue a fix in a future app or firmware update, then it is what it is.

When I was researching this issue before I posted, I thought I read somewhere that the AI was getting adjusting to purposely not send notifications if cars are in the driveway or something. Can’t find the article, though.

Sounds like it would be easier to just uncheck vehicle detection, check person and whatever else, pet etc. (if it works) But that’s me, lol.

I noticed in some posts, folks are complaining about the new V4 Pan 4k cam locking in on stationary vehicles. Perhaps not related to all Pan V4. Notifications, unknown.

I’m waiting a little while myself to see what they’re doing with RTSP for use in Home Assistant.

So, until then, my 14 to 16 Wyze camera count, will not increase much, if any.

I would consider continued replacement of my many window mounted OGs with V4s or the latest models, if any OGs should fail. About the only cameras shapes for easy window mounts. And telephotos are useful here and there.

Perhaps my pan v3s as they fail and they have some bugs worked out of Pan V4.

I could use spotlight cams too, but I’m reluctant to buy them. Yet.

Yes, they have a few times talked about updating the AI to ignite parked vehicles. It sounds like there might be some kind of a conflict. This camera was the first one to get some kind of model that would ignore sending notifications for stationary vehicles. Sometime this summer they released a platform wide model that is supposed to do it for the rest of the cameras now too. I wonder if there’s a conflict between the way this floodlight Pro handled that, versus what they rolled out to every camera. So maybe there is some kind of a conflict and this floodlight Pro is being subjected to two different kinds of instructions or something? Also, we don’t have a lot of details about criteria they are using to ignore stationary objects or how they detect moving objects. We can only make assumptions. I wish I would have thought to ask about this in the ask me anything event that just happened yesterday.

That rang a bell, and this is one thing that came up in my search:

I don’t know if that’s what you were thinking or not, but I did a search on group:WyzeTeam vehicle, and that’s a recent-ish topic that came up.

That might have been it, @Crease. I thought I saw something else, too, but not sure. Thank you for that.

I’m glad they’re looking into it. It could be a future firmware update, but also maybe a hardware update for certain cameras.

I agree, @carverofchoice. Hopefully they roll back whatever changes/updates they made and fine-tune it

I also have a vague recollection, but…:man_shrugging:. You’re welcome in any case. :upside_down_face:

Wanted to provide an update on this for all of you.

From my last reply, not a ton has changed.

My conclusion: blocking out both our parked cars in the DZ resulted in the vehicle notifications coming in more regularly, but I have to block BOTH cars. If I only block one, the vehicle events still show up, but the notifications trickle in less and less.

I believe someone else mentioned this, but I’m convinced the AI in the floodlight cam sees a parked car in the driveway when an event triggers the cam, will record the event anyway, but may get picky on the notification unless the DZ doesn’t “see” a car in the driveway.

It hasn’t been perfect in my findings, but that’s what I think it is. My Android app has been updated a couple times now in the last two weeks.

Again, I hope a firmware update fixes this. Pretty annoying

Yeah, that is a weird change. It should ignore parked cars by default unless there is another AI object present. They may need to do an update to their AI model.

Maybe it counts 2 parked cars as a second AI object and triggers. It should ignore ALL parked cars unless there is a moving AI object.

Yeah I’m not sure here. It seems really odd that it’s doing this.

Aside from seeing if a Wyze engineer or tech can weigh in on this, I’m stuck

We could remember to ask about it in an AMA.

They should have an AMA during Wyze week around October 24th (their anniversary).

I ran across a very similar issue with but on a Reolink pan cam post on Reddit. I’ve seen similar issues with pan cams here I think. I know the case here is a floodlight, but the similarities caught my eye.

As the pan moves say on a person, and crosses over the vehicles probably confuses the Ai and contributes to the flood light issue as well.

After some research, it occurs to me there may be a couple solutions. Not necessarily easy ones as it appear to be a universal issue across brands in different ways, Pan Cams, Flood, fixed etc. my outdoor V4s & OGs can occasionally mix up headlight wash as some kind of motion, typically person. AWS, confused Wyze cloud?:person_shrugging:

Possibly future ai improvement fixes it…TBD

A cheap and dirty brief, although maybe not easy, is Tasker and Autonotification if using Android. (I don’t remember and its a long thread):grimacing:

Allowing if person is the first detection, then cancel vehicle, but also allow vehicle if its the first actual motion detection notification. Etc. especially during panning as in pan cams, to the degree possible. Whetehr its fix for floods qould need testing.

Another not so easy solution to most of those detections would be Home Assistant, Coral or similar TPU for speed and Frigate.

Frigate has many settings to mask and prevent most if not all false detections & could prevent “most” false notifications via HA OS. (If Wyze ever makes their cameras Home Assistant compatible AND exposes the detection sensors and RTSP.

I am not a Frigate or Tasker expert by a long shot, yet… So it’ll take research if any interest.

It gives me a headache, just thinking about doing either, but I’d probably personally jump in head first anyhow for the challenge.

I’d probably also consult an Ai occasionally with either, after triple checking what the Ai suggested. Lol

Other than those, it’s sensitivity settings, detection zones etc. tweaks, which I also don’t like doing.

A simple flash of the sun or a headlight occasionally on my garage can detect a person in my Pan Cam V3.

I have Tasker and Autonotification and its got all the Adb settings allowed, I may experiment on my garage indoor Pan V3 with my own suggestions. Until I get a TPU in my lab machine for Home Assistant.

Two cars sit in our garage and it never detects a vehicle because I have vehicles off for obvious reasons.

For my headache testing, how will I get Tasker to detect a flash of sunlight or a headlight? :joy:

Brain thinking, :collision: :light_bulb: Lux sensor right next to the Pan Cam V3. Usable in Tasker and HA OS, if Wyze ever decides to make some cams RTSP :winking_face_with_tongue::wink:.

Welp, that does it, new headache projects.

I have one V3 on Cam Lite that has been driving me crazy for almost a week. Every time it sees headlights it sends a person notifications. I had to disable notifications as it won’t let me sleep.
