No Cloud on Wyze v3

My Wyze v3 cam keeps showing a cloud with a line through it at my vacation property. The odd part is I can still see playback and live view. It only seems to impact the event recording. I power cycled it when I was there and it was fine for a few days. Within a day of returning home same thing happens again.

Very frustrated as this cam is probably the most important one for me for recording events. When I go into the event recording screen it will momentarily shows network error and then everything looks normal. Thoughts?

I guess I’m a bad person can upload one pic per post.

This is a known issue that Wyze is investigating. Unfortunately, they are asking for SD Log Files from the physical cam rather than from the app to find the source of the problem. This requires direct access to the cam.

They have asked that you follow these steps if you would like to aide in the process:

When the device shows offline but still live streams, with the cam still powered on, please take out the microSD card and wait a second before re-inserting the card (or inserting a new microSD card). The camera will then make two “ding” sounds usually within 30 seconds. You can then remove that SD Card and read it in an external card reader on a computer.

On your microSD card, there will be a root or log folder with the device log file. The files are named as xxxxx_log.txt. If there are multiple logs, select the most recent log file.

When you have the log file, please email it along with a description of the issue and the date, time, and time zone that it occurred to: microsdcardlogs@wyze.com

Many seasoned cam users have installed smart plugs on all their cams so that they have the ability of power cycling these cams when necessary. This may be something you can consider so that you can schedule regular reboots or power cycle them when this occurs.

So this gets more interesting… came back to the property today with another v3 that I use at home. Figured I’ll swap them as it’s easier to deal with issue at home.

Back in the driveway here and get settled. Go into the Wyze app rename the camera here so not to confuse anything in the app. Still line through the cloud but it has logged 4 events when I arrived. Now I’m really mystified?

In any event I’ve changed it out for the one from home that’s been working fine. Will see what happens from here I guess.

This is exactly why they want the SD Card Cam Logs detailed above. They want to solve that mystery.

When this happens and it shows offline but still streams, the cam is still fully operational, recording to the SD, and uploading events. There is a missing status reporting link somewhere between the cam - the cloud - and your app that causes it to show as though it is offline even though it is not.

So I took my camera from my house and swapped it with my vacation property to resolve this issue and allow some troubleshooting at home. Formatted the SD card and haven’t had a problem since.

Were you able to get the SD Card log files emailed to Wyze?

Since the cam is acting different on a new network, my suspicion is that they want to look at how the cam is interacting w\ the network signal.

Good you have it up and running though.
