I recently had to get a new phone, Samsung S25. After installing Wyze I get some notifications, but not all. I have 4 devices, a doorbell cam, door lock, outdoor cam and indoor cam. I only have notifications for the doorbell and door lock turned on. For the doorbell cam I’m only getting some notifications. It’s random. For instance if I get a delivery and I don’t get a notification I check to make sure an event was recorded. Sure enough, there’s one in the app. I have a large bush near the front door. When it gets really windy it will cause events. I might get a notification 3 out of 8 times when it gets like that.
I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling, clearing cache, turning off notifications in the app and turning them back on. Anything else I can do? It worked absolutely flawless on my old phone.
I’ve been having some on and off issues with notifications on my Android 14 phone, but I don’t think it is the same issue since yours seems to coincide with a new phone. Though it could be coincidence and maybe not related to the new phone, but I do get some notifications, just miss anywhere between 1/4 and 1/2 of them each day, where my old spare phone with Android 8 gets them all (but that is running the older Wyze 2.5 app too).
With every release it seems Android gets more aggressive with power saving and pausing apps etc. You can try going into your android settings - apps - wyze and set it to the lowest power saving mode and see if that helps.
Within the wyze app you can also enable “run in background” and see if that makes any difference, but that shouldn’t be necessary for normal operation of the app.
I have had this phone for a while now and I do get partial notifications, i.e. sometimes the front camera notifies me motion or AI event occurred with the proper notification but at times it simply does not, even though the event was tagged and recorded in the app.
It can be any number of combination between Wyze updates and Android updates. Do you get event recordings happening in the app consistently even if you don’t get the notification?
Yes all events are logged in the app, even the ones that don’t notify. About 2 weeks ago my phone started missing some notifications. There was no app or firmware update anywhere near that time, and my phone did not get any OS updates (though there are frequently smaller updates via play store to google apps and services, so maybe one of those had some impact). Seems like none of those play store updates would impact something OS level like notifications, but who knows. But since force quitting the wyze app and re-opening it gets notifications working, I don’t think it is OS related. Seems like some sort of connection between the wyze app and wyze servers is going down and not re-establishing in a timely fashion, or possibly whatever server my app has chosen to use is overloaded / having other issues.
The older 2.5 app on my old spare phone is getting all notifications.
They load balance between lots of servers in AWS, it may just be “luck of the draw” which ones your account/settings/app instance are provisioned on. So it makes it hard to say if it is anything to do with the app version or if that is just coincidence.
OK, I may have found the solution. For the last 2 days I have gotten a notification for all the events I have enabled. Under the phone’s Settings > Wyze app there is a battery setting. I set this to unrestricted. I also set the App settings in the Wyze app itself to run in the background that dave27 alluded to. So far, so good. You do get a notification several times that Wyze is running in the background, but at least the events are coming through now.
Yeah I tried the unrestricted battery but didn’t really want to let it run in the background all the time. Has never been needed before, but may have to go that way until they figure it out.
