Having down loaded the WYZE App and gone thru all the settings, I am unable to shut off the fan on my furnace. I’ve turned the Home selection to ‘Off’ and Temp Control to ‘Off’. My furnace fan is still On and I’m at a loss to get it to shut down. Many Thanks in Advance for any help/suggestions.

Hey Doug

@speadie is the resident expert in things thermostat, I think.

Haven’t seen him in a while but tagging him as I did may summon him.

If the fan is running constantly, then you probably have something connected improperly. do you have pictures of your setup? specifically, the pictures of the wiring of your old thermostat, the wiring of your new thermostat and the wires in your furnace.

My Friend, I hope to have a reply this Saturday as my landlord is scheduled to be here to access the furnace wiring so I can obtain a photo. I already have a photo of the thermostat wiring. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the landlord has a historical photo of the old thermostat wiring, however I hope to press on with your kind assistance.

Share the thermostat wiring now and I can see if anything stands out as obvious.

Here is a photo of the WYZE thermostat wiring. I hope the photo gets through ok.

Did you install the C adapter in the furnace?
If not, the green wire that you are using for C is probably actually the fan control.

Based on your question, I read up on Google about C adapters for furnaces and a possible requirement for smart thermostat’s. In reading about this subject, I thought I should recheck the WYZE wiring and noticed a short black wire pushed behind the coloured wires in my first photo. Here is an updated photo of said thermostat. Regards.

A few moments later, to test the green wire in the C port, I pulled the green wire out and waited for about 2 minutes to see if the fan would stop. It did not. Still runs continuously. I replaced the green wire back into C port.

So I’ve had access to the furnace downstairs. When the landlord removed the furnace wiring plate, the fan stopped. Suspecting a loose wire connection, I checked all the wires and they are firmly seated. I tried the switch (see photo) that is compressed when the furnace plate is installed. To test this theory, I held the switch button in for 10 seconds and the furnace light came on and the fan started. Releasing it, and the fan stopped. Incidentally, when the furnace plate is off, my upstairs thermostat has no power.

You will also see photo’s of the furnace wiring and what I think is a C adapter.

For your review and any suggestions you may have.
Regards

The switch you pointed to is a door interlock safety switch, it kills all power to the furnace when the door is open.
I’m not seeing a wiring issue. Can you try removing the G wire that goes from the C adapter to the furnace board?

If the fan stops when that wire is removed and the furnace is powered on again, then you have a faulty C-adapter. Contact wyze and they should be able to supply you with a replacement.

If the fan keeps running when that wire is removed and the furnace has power, then you likely have a tripped high limit on the furnace. Call a furnace repair technician.
