I am installing 4 brand new cameras,. 2 are the Cam v4 models that I have mounted in the patios. They are working perfectly, The other 2 are doorbell cameras that won’t show LIve View. Continuous Error 3004.
My issue is with both the Battery Doorbell Camera and the Duo Camera Door bell. When I am in the app and want to see Live View, it won’t display. It keeps showing a progress of 1-3 steps, then stops and errors out with Error Code -3004. I have done all the steps that Wyze Support suggested, but the doorbells still won’t show Live View. They both work for movement and capturing video. It’s only an issue of Live View.
Both cameras have full battery charge,
Both connected to the Wi/fFi fine. Even after I changed it to a 2.4ghz only network.
Both have updated firmware.
Both now have 128gb SD Cards [One won’t show it’s installed]
Both have settings disabled for power saving mode.
Connecting to wifi and being able to stream video are two different animals. Your symptoms sound like connectivity. But to test and confirm, can you bring a doorbell inside and see if it then connects and streams fine? Would tell you definitively one way or the other.
Where doorbells are mounted are often very difficult spots for wifi signal. Right up against the house, when usually a wifi signal needs to go through a window to work well outside.
I was able to talk with a live tech support rep at Wyze. It took us together about 10 minutes to figure out the issue. I had a VPN running on my phone. As soon as I turned it off all cameras are now working on Live View.
My guess is the VPN compresses video streams to save bandwidth (like cell phone companies do) and whatever protocol the doorbells use isn’t compatible with that, while the v4 is. I know wyze uses different protocols for different models, but not sure specifically which ones are which.
Or the VPN just plain blocks something that the doorbells use that the v4s don’t.
