New bulb camera how to set up motion dectection

The camera is great at taking a pic or video, but how to turn on the motion detection for the light to turn on and then turn off?

I think the answer to what you’re asking about is to toggle Bulb Cam’s  Settings ➜ Bulb Settings ➜ (ACTIVATES WHEN) Detecting ➜ Motion ➜ (on). Once you navigate there and enable that toggle, you can select other options on that screen.

If you’re looking for something else, then please provide some more detail about what you’d like to accomplish.

I wanted the light to come on when it detects motion and then turn off is 15 to 30 seconds. I do have it set up like you suggested, Motion on and all motion is selected. I can’t pick Smart Dectection. But the camera got me but no light came on. Under My Devices, I have the light turned off. I can turn it on from here.

That’s available only if you have Bulb Cam on a subscription (Cam Plus, Cam Unlimited, etc.).

Were you trying this outside of the time window configured in  Settings ➜ Bulb Settings ➜ (ACTIVATES WHEN) Detecting ➜ Schedule? I think Bulb Cam forces you to have a schedule when this feature is enabled.

If you tap Bulb Cam’s tile on the Devices tab (or the Favorites tab if you’ve used  ➜  to add it to that tab) in order to view its Live Stream page, then you can manually toggle the light using the on-screen control in the lower-left corner of the view pane. Is that what you mean?

I would like the light to come on when it detects motion. Then turn off in about 15-20 seconds. This is what the ad says: WYZE Bulb Cam Security Camera, 2K HD Outdoor Light Bulb Camera, Color Night Vision, Dimmable LED Bulb, Motion Detection, Siren Alarm, Works w/Alexa/Google Assistant. Can this only detect motion and then the camera comes on, or will it also turn on the light when there is motion?

If you go to the settings screen that I mentioned above, then you should see that Lights Off Timer has 15s and 30s as two of the options you can select. I still don’t know what you set for the Schedule, though, so perhaps if you shared a screenshot that could be helpful. Knowing whether or not you’ve tried to trigger Bulb Cam with motion outside of the schedule you set would also be helpful.

Also please note that you can automate lighting control to some degree by enabling the Ambient Light setting; however, if you want the light to be completely off unless/until its triggered by motion, then you’ll probably want Ambient Light to be toggled off.

The camera should be on all the time as long as you’re providing power to the circuit where you have the Bulb Cam mounted (i.e., you’re not turning off the switch that controls the E26 socket for Bulb Cam and you don’t have Bulb Cam mounted in a sconce that has its own switch, like a dusk-to-dawn sconce with its own built-in low-light sensor). Using the Bulb Settings as described should turn on the light when Bulb Cam detects motion.

On the subject of motion, you might also want to check  Settings ➜ Detection Settings to make sure CAMERA SENSITIVITY is where you want it and that you don’t have a Detection Zone screening out areas where you want the Cam to be able to detect motion. If you don’t leave it on full time, then temporarily enabling Motion Tagging can also be helpful when troubleshooting.

After playing around with the settings, it WORKS now. The camera is working good and last night the motion light worked when it detected motion. Very happy with the bulb-cam now. Thanks for the assistance.
