Under the automations tab on the Home Screen I have “turn all notifications on” and “turn all notifications off” as shortcuts. I wouldn’t need these if we could have a setting to only use notifications when the system is armed which is what I imagine 99% of users want, but without it I need to manually turn notifications on when we leave and arm the system, and back off when we get home.
With the previous version I had to toggle tabs for the bell on top right to update and show the change in status took effect (on with no diagonal line across the bell, off with the diagonal line). That was already a huge pain, but it worked.
However with 3.0 even when the automation triggers, the icon on top left never updates to show the correct status of notifications. The shortcut works, but there’s no way to see it’s worked, at least not on the same screen. Even the old “toggle to a different screen then back” doesn’t work,
And “why do I have the shortcut at all when the bell in the top right does the same thing” you might ask? Because the identical bell in top right of the monitoring screen is the emergency alarm icon! So we didn’t want to confuse the exact same icon with 2 totally different features on 2 different screens, so we created an automation. It would be great, however, if there was SOME WAY to easily see the automation actually worked. I know it shows a “triggered” pop up, but we’ve had that message appear several times but the automation did not trigger into effect, so we got in the habit of verifying using the bell icon. If that icon is for notifications on/off, if an automation turns all notifications on or off, they bell should update, yes?
If there was a way to see the automation worked, like if the automations in effect were a different color or something, that would be ideal. But until then, please make sure that bell icon shows the correct and current notification status - when notifications are updated (turned on or off), the bell shows no cross through it or vice versa.
Thanks!
