Native Home Assistant Integration for Wyze Products

Thanks for that info, I have some cheap 2k Indoor Eufy cams on Home Assistant as they have RTSP built in, but I would like to use my existing V3’s V4 and V3 Pan and my 4 OG’s.

[Mod Note]: Personal information has been removed for privacy and security reasons.

OGs are a different type firmware I think, not sure they’ll do those. but we can hope I have a bunch of OGs.

You’re last post to me above also posted personal info for some reason, might want to take a look.

I have a Cam v4 and with the latest firmware I couldn’t use Docker Wyze Bridge anymore, which is what I have available for now.

You can flash the firmware (using an SD card) back to a version that was working for you, and turn off automatic firmware updates for that camera in the settings.

V4s should be getting their own direct RTSP support really soon though, which will be nice.

I will try that. I just like to keep the latest version because security and I also have ADHD so I like shine new things. The problem is when comes up with a regression like that.

Yeah, firmware updates often break things, especially beta firmware because developers of third-party software haven’t had time to address it.

I also know that docker Wyze bridge has recently notoriously had low and slow activity (Or so I am told by several people}, so there have been a lot of forks made from it from frustrated people that issues weren’t being updated promptly. So you could potentially check some of the forks to find somebody who makes it work with the latest software.

Speaking of updates,

HAOS 2026.2.etc., Beta at least, breaks Seckatie Wyze integration, until updated anyhow. Issue is posted at Github.

All my bulb automations are offline.

As of today and so far anyhow.

I have used the jdeath or idisposable forks successfully, until the V3 rtsp firmware. Since I updated my V3 to the RTSP firmware, DWB is not connecting to them anymore. I know I have RTSP for stream, but DWB goes beyond stream, by giving control over some camera functions via MQTT (such as turning on/off IR, night vision, motion tracking for the pan V3,…).

Have you come across a solution to maintain the MQTT connection while on V3 RTSP firmware?

YIKES! Thanks for the PSA! I was seriously seconds away from checking my Home Assistant for updates. You saved me some frustration because I have a TON of lighting automations dependent on that integration.

Any idea what part of the update in the HAOS caused the breakage?
Also, I’d love anyone to post and update when it’s confirmed to be fixed. I’ll check the github issues occasionally too.

This is why Wyze needs to do their own official integration so we don’t all bail to something that stays local or connects directly such as through Matter.

Sorry, I haven’t paid close attention to that issue. I’ve been mostly waiting for official public release of the RTSP firmware so I can transition to making everything run through that.

Here are some on the Github issues page.

I have since deleted my logs, mine seemed different, some sort of python error or something upon loading the lastest Beta pre releases. Not sure which is the issue, loaded three uodates.

On the verge of place the order, for a four pack of Hue Essentials bulbs, cheaper than premium, act as routers supposedly, four pack Zigbee bulbs.

Local, HA and power, they should work, no cloud. Still reading about them and reviews

I’m weary of cloud devices even though this wasn’t Wyze’s fault. No offense to them, hoping Seckatie fixes ASAP.

I only have 3 operating, but theyre essential to me. Or were.

I’m hesitant to use zigbee bulbs.

When the switch is on, the mesh comes to depend on them as routers for other zigbee clients to connect through. When anyone in the house turns any bulb off at the switch (which is common for people to do with a light switch), it often breaks the network for an extended time and lots of devices stop working because they keep trying to go through that router that is turned off, and while zigbee can heal its own network, it often takes a while, so a lot of things stop working for an extended period of time. This gets really annoying for a lot of people.

For that reason, I’ve generally strictly avoided Zigbee bulbs. It’s my understanding that matter over thread works a lot better and heals a lot faster And more efficiently.

I’m highly considering buying a bunch of the newly launched insanely affordable matter over thread devices from Ikea and getting one of the new matter over thread coordinators that home assistant just launched that go really far with the signal.

Oh, to be honest I don’t mind Wi-Fi bulbs that much. I have had dozens of Wi-Fi bulbs running all at the same time, without any signal interference saturation issues like so many people claim. I would like my future smart bulbs to be matter compatible so that they will connect locally and directly to the systems I care about, particularly home assistant. I think my days of actively buying Wi-Fi bulbs through a closed. Brandi are mostly at end. I could make a few exceptions, especially if if their integration allows local connection to the bulb.

I actually have really liked that about the HACS wyze integration. It allowed local connection to the bulbs so that they would respond extremely fast. That have been sufficient for my needs. But it’s still not ideal as we see by the example today of the potential broken integration issue that happened.

Yes and no. It may not be Wyze’s fault directly, But if they would just do the right thing and build an official integration themselves, it probably wouldn’t happen. This long delay For official support compared to their competitors almost feels like It’s bordering on negligence… But I’ve pontificated upon this multiple times elsewhere.

Phil, yes I am hoping somebody updates a fix for seckatie to push through soon.

I have a lot more than three Wyze bulbs active in HA automations. I have about two dozen. :scream: Many of them are fully controlled by PIR motion sensors, MMW Presence Detection sensors, smart buttons, camera person detection virtual sensors, etc through home assistant. It would be more than annoying if that integration broke. And that’s just for my lights, let alone all the other stuff.

I am considering Shelly 1 minis gen4 to get around that switch problem. Keeps power on 24/7 and wall switch works too. And will make her happy too.

The bulbs are supposedly Matter compatible as well, which for me is not of interest at the moment…later perhaps.

Shelly is Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Bluetooth, Matter. compatible.

The new HAOS update did make some Matter improvements of some sort supposedly.

If they ever get stock again I could try Matter in an Aqara fp300 mmwave. But I’m using Z2M for now to test it. Can’t buy one for ages.

Seckatie posted 1.36 a fix.

Thank you!!! I see it in my updates now!

Sadly, I think it is time to abandon Wyze. There products are behind the times. They dont support HA and they want to keep a closed ecosystem.

The biggest issue are the recent cost increases for less than reliable service.

I am sure I am not alone in leaving Wyze. I have had them since they started and I see no improvement in their products, support, software or services.

So long Wyze and thanks for the time we had. Good luck to you.

Unfortunately, I too have had no choice but to switch away from Wyze. cameras.

I have used them for several years and they keep getting worse. At first I just thought they would fix things but the more cameras i installed the worst they got. I currently have 16 cameras both inside and outside, When I bring up the web page now days i am lucky if four will be usable. I use to be able to view them on Tinycam Pro but they cut that off. That was the last straw. I looked around and tried several other brands and now have four Reolink 4K cameras. It is amazing how much faster they come up in Tinycam Pro on any of my TV,s and they run 24/7 with zero issues. It took me about 15 minutes “after the first one” to mount install, and configure each one. When looking you need to be sure you pick a camera that supports HTTPS, RTSP, OUVIF. you then can view local & or on the cloud. If Wyze just added full support for those the problem would be solved with the Wyze cloud. Which I would use for non-local storage but not have to deal with the cloud viewing issues.

Still no official RTSP integration from Wyze?

I’m tired of trying out different plugins, integration, etc that just won’t work because Wyze won’t let them. I appreciate Wyze`s team effort but it’s been almost 10 years since we requested begged. At this point they could just throw a prompt at Claude to create it.

There is. They just recently launched official RTSP built in to the main public firmware for the V3 camera and the Pan V3 camera and said they are currently working on official RTSP for other cameras too. Last we heard, we are expecting the V4 and V3Pro among the next batch to get RTSP, and hopefully some others as well. I’m really hoping they add support for the Floodlight Pro camera, but I could really use the v4 and V3Pro soon too.

Yes. It finally worked for me on Blue Iris after playing with the camera settings. Interestingly setting it as RTSP was not the correct config. I found the screenshot of the dialog on the wyzecam subreddit.
