My One Motion Detector is just too sensitive - partial fix

My Front Porch Motion Detector is pointed away from the road and towards my front door and was just too sensitive.

My porch is very close to a very busy road and the motion detector reacted to many car head light reflections and other extraneous motions.

I put small strips of black vinyl electricians tape vertically on each side of the motion sensor bulb to cut down on it’s range of view.

I also set the notification to trigger only after motion was detected for 6 seconds for my night time schedule - lots of head light reflections at night.

MUCH improved performance.

OK - I give up, where did you "set the notification to trigger only after motion was detected for 6 seconds " ? I don’t see that option anywhere.

Very very good!

Rules

You have to go into rules and set up a device trigger for when ‘sensor’ detect motion for ‘x amount of time’, it only works for the sense motion sensors, that rule will not work for the sensors in the cameras.

Hello chasjabber
My sister’s son-in-law cut down on the sensitivity of her front entry by using a portion of a toilet paper core. See ‘Motion Sensor Shield’ for pictures and description. One thing I would like to add is that the toilet paper core can be cut off at an angle so that an asymmetrical pickup region is created that can be aimed by rotating the cut face to the desired direction.
