Has anyone tried using wyze contact sensors on the glass of a window to detect a glass break in? My thoughts would be person breaks glass and magnet triggers when it falls.
Can’t believe there’s no one who’s having the same issue… How do you guys monitor for a glass breakage?
I have too many windows per sq. ft. Motion sensors (v2) cover a larger area with fewer sensors.
What if you are home?
My home and away settings are different. Away includes all sensors. Home includes all entry/contact sensors and only motion sensors that cover areas no one should be entering. Motion sensors that cover areas that are not armed still send notifications while in Home mode so I know someone entered. That method may prove annoying if you have many people in your house while system is set to Home mode. And it’s actually overkill as my exterior cams will pick up and notify well before anyone breaks a window and enters when I’m home.
With these you’d have to be creative because even if a window is broken, that has the contact sensor may not separate from the magnet if the piece of glass does not separate from the frame.
Traditional “glass breakage” sensors either detect the sound of glass breaking, or sense the vibrations of the breakage and alert in those things rather than a contact sensor separating.
I have a contact sensor to determine if a window is opened, and that will trip an notification.
The picture you’re showing is a very old window type most glasses tempered
Also you have to put it in the middle of the window
