Beta testing didn’t go very well…![]()

I used to be a Wyze FanBoi, but now I lean towards Reolink on the budget cameras.
My high end cameras are WTI Sidewinders, which are made in the USA and connected to a NVR. Also have 1 Costar HD I have just installed and started testing.
In my profession I maintain and install Telecommunications equipment and cameras for several government agencies so I know my way around this technology very well.
**I agree 100%. **
I bought 10 Wyze cameras. Half don’t work anymore. Even the damn Wyze robot vacuum does not work. I’m looking for another better option. Wyze was great a few years ago but now it’s just too much hassle with them going offline. I don’t recommend Wyze for anything anymore.
I agree with the point about being able to see the license plate even though the Reolink was only 1080p and Wyze was 2K. This is something a few of us constantly criticize Wyze for. They do WAY TOO MUCH heavy compression and reduce the bitrate. They REALLY need to stop doing this so heavily. People request Wyze to make something in 4K and I say not to do it because they will just over-compress it and choke the bitrate to make it totally pointless and 4K in name only. IMO they need to consider reducing the compression and increasing the Bitrate in certain cases. It should only be heavily compressed and lowered bitrate if someone’s network can’t handle it. The problem is that it is hard to make a dynamic change like that to allow it one way for some people and another for others and if Wyze did it for all cams, they’re afraid the people with crappy internet would blame the camera instead of their network. So heavy compression and low bitrate is the safest thing to do to ensure everyone has a reasonable experience. Sucks for us though.
