Can I get a “cheap old” router with no internet and travel with the whole setup?

No. The router and bulbs must have internet access.
The settings for each Wyze Bulb is saved on the Wyze Servers in the cloud, not on the bulb. The app accesses each bulb thru the cloud to send commands and receive status based on those cloud settings.
On power up, each bulb must be able to access the internet to get these commands, otherwise it will show in the app as offline.
