Large delays in Wyze OG SD playback

When I first got my OG cams (I have many v2 and OG cams on a large property) I could review SD card footage very quickly. Just as fast as my v2 cams. Now, they lag severly. I select a point in the timeline and the wheel spins for a while -20-30 seconds and then the footage comes up. v2 cams however are almost instantaneous. And some OG’s are re a few feet from the v2’s on the same network. so I know it’s not a network issue.

Any reason why the OG would start lagging during playback?

Thanks,

I’ve noticed the same with my OGs and OGT. My v3, v4, Pan v2 and Pan v3 cams work fine. You’re not alone.

Edit:
OG firmware v1.0.92
OGT firmware v1.0.80
Android app v3.4.0 (b635)

Mine still play back quickly. The only time I notice a delay is on one that has a very weak wifi signal and only during “peak” times. I’m on the latest firmware and app.

I’d recommend formatting the SD card and see if that helps. The internal formatter (via the app) should be enough but if you can pull the card and use the sdcard.org format utility, that is a bit better.

Card may simply be wearing out too, if it has bad cells then attempting to record and view at the same time (or even just view) may be too much for it.

I have about 6 OG’s though and they are all doing the same thing. Makes me think it’s not the card

Seems unlikely, however if you got them all around the same time and are using the same SD cards in all of them, it is possible - they have a pretty finite lifespan. But it points more towards a connectivity issue than SD card in that case.

For whatever it’s worth, when trying to replicate another issue I’m also seeing that microSD playback on a Cam OG takes significantly longer (several seconds, but not half a minute) than playback from a Cam Pan v3 or Cam v4. :man_shrugging:

I don’t know if this is a recent change or not, because I tend to use microSD recording as a set-it-and-forget-it feature and not something that I access frequently, but I figured I’d chip in a note about my experience.

I noticed that too on one of mine when testing the same thing you were testing. I’ve noticed that in the past when the SD card shows 100% full it does that, and formatting resolves it. The Panv3 and v4 both seem to never quite fill up the SD card so I think there is some slight difference in how they manage space. But I’ve seen my OGs other times not ever totally fill up, so not sure what causes it. I suspect that constantly deleting, recording, and viewing all at the same time is just too much for the camera or card.

Yeah, for the price I’m not going to complain too much about a little load delay on a feature that I don’t use a lot, though I’m not discounting the problem and understand how it can be frustrating to people who use it much more frequently. They still seem to load live streams more quickly than some other cameras I use, and that’s usually what I’m trying to do when accessing a camera in the app, so I remain impressed by their performance as budget cameras.

Yeah there was a firmware update last year that “improved connectivity for web view” on the OGs that made the live feed load almost instantly. Wish they’d make that “fix” for the other models too, though they’re not too bad, couple seconds max.

Though I think that fix was also the one that caused some other big issue necessitating the 1.0.84 firmware that is on them now (for the life of me can’t remember what it was, but it was a big deal).

Your broken detection zone?

That’s the one. Similar to the notifications issue that seems to have cropped up this past week, could get it to work for a while then it would stop…

From what I recall they basically accidentally fixed it when fixing something else in beta firmware. Maybe I should revert to the 2.5 app on my main phone and just shut off all firmware updates, things seemed to be more stable in the past.

Hmmm. My 2 OGs are WAD (working-as-designed). The 14 sec video shows I’m up-to-date with 1.0.84 #headscratcher

My “high endurance” microSD cards have been recording continuninuuonusly for years.

PROTIP: Approx 14 seconds is the max you can record w/o exceeding the 5.86MB upload limit.

Same thing happening on my 2 OGs. Using 30 seconds forward or back is really slow. This is a recent development. All my other cameras are fine. I may have to replace them since I’ve had requests for multiple clips.
