Currently writing this at 3 AM because this is keeping me awake. I’ve got an outdoor cat that goes in and out of my porch throughout the day and night. I’ve got a cam setup, and I get an alert that there’s motion. I watch a racoon stroll in and decide to start snacking on the food I’ve left for the cat. I turn on the spotlight, sound the siren, and he runs off, I take the cat food out so they don’t come back. About 20 minutes later, he comes back with its partner and once again, I set off the siren. Since 1 AM they have returned over and over. Each time, the siren ends up being less effective. They’ve attacked my cat before, and I’m worried that they’ll hurt him if the siren isn’t dettering them. Now for my actual question, is there any way to raise the volume of the siren or change the siren to maybe a more piercing and less cartoony sound?
Sorry for the long read, I’m super stressed out about this.
Sirens are ineffective with wildlife. They learn eventually that nothing happens when they sound off. I have the same issue with deer eating the flowers at my cottage. At first the siren will scare them off but by the third time it doesn’t phase them off.
My cat is too sweet, I’ve never seen him hiss or be aggressive in any way. Always shocks me when he comes home covered in another animals blood and just licks it off like nothing happened. The only thing he won’t fight is racoons, apparently.
