Is the time stamp generated by the camera or by the app?

On the Wyze app (iOS or Android) when watching a camera stream live, there is a time stamp on the lower right corner. Is that time stamp generated by the camera, or by the app?

In other words, if I see the time stamp incrementing as it should, can I depend on that to show that the live stream is actually working and isn’t frozen at some time in the past?

My cameras monitor places where motion is fairly rare and so it’s hard to detect if what I’m seeing is live or some frozen past image.

Yes, the on-screen timestamp is generated by the camera.

In the Advanced Settings of the camera, there should be a button that says “Sync Time”.

If the time is incrementing in the live stream, then it is not frozen in the past.
