Internet outage flashing status light

I was awoken this morning at 1:30 a.m. due to the status lights on ALL of my light switches and plugs flashing like crazy due to some kind of Verizon FiOS outage. Every room in my house was glowing. This went on for at least 30 minutes, at which point I was forced to find some duct tape to put over the light switch and plug in my bedroom so I can get back to sleep. Do you know how bright those things are in a pitch black room?

This was absolutely crazy. There has to be some way to turn off this nonsense.

That is crazy, but funny if you just heard about it but never experienced this happening.

Hopefully somebody will offer a solution.

They do sell adhesive light filters you can apply to indicator lights. The filters can be circular and filter light like car window tinting film by percentage of light passing through.

I am beating a dead horse. If Wyze offered a hub that everything connects to and could be locally controlled, this issue would not be an issue.

For example, my smart home runs under Hubitat Elevation. I can cut the coax coming from the pole and still be able to control everything locally in my smart home because Hubitat does not rely on the cloud for local automations. The Wyze hub would also allow for local viewing of cameras.

Yes I have seen those but as I said, I have plenty of black duct-tape I can cut into circles :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

My point is, since the config is set to TURN OFF the status light, why would it suddenly turn it on and in a flashing/blinking pattern :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

The reason I came to Wyze was to NOT have to deal with a hub. I had the Wyze Outdoor camera that forced you to use a hub. It was absolutely horrible. I had to constantly power-cycle the hub and/or the outdoor camera and many times in a specific order and that was one camera. I can’t imagine a hub going bad and loosing access to more than a dozen cameras/light switches/power plugs/etc.

Good point.

It’s been a long time since I had a Wyze bulb but I remember that means they need to be set up again. And that’s one of the reasons I went with another brand. They don’t seem to retain their settings after a prolonged outage.
