I want them to the side. Less pressure on the cable connector. Picky and irrelevant, but that s my wish.
Maybe you can open one up and modify it to your preferred arrangement without affecting the 110v to 5v portion?
Maybe. I’ll try that on one of the hundreds of old bricks I have.
I found these. Perhaps one of them will work for you

Angus, there have been a lot of comments regarding Wyze cameras being under powered, to you think using a 2.5 would be better??
Using higher amperage USB power supplies won’t hurt anything but I’ve never had a problem with either the WYZE or aftermarket 1 amp adapters.
I would agree except with the Pan cameras, especially if you either use a sense bridge or try to daisy chain another camera. Then I find when the Pan camera moves the sense bridge will often loose connection, or a downstream camera will suffer a brownout.
I have 4 Wyzecams outdoors under my eaves for two years. Chicago winter/summer, no issues. Not in boxes either so IR works. Like your method though.
Anyone have any suggestions on this. My cam is outside in a housing, works great during the day. I can switch to night vision during the day and it looks good. But at night it’s all black. I tried toggling on and off. Resetting, unplugging. Reformatting. Moving it. Same results. Can’t see. Photo are both day time last is night.
It looks to me like the IR lights may have accidentally gotten nudged off. Or at least they are not working for some reason.
Does the housing have a glass/plastic cover so you have turned off the IR lights to prevent reflection?
Maybe double check right under the “Night Vision Mode” setting and make sure that “Night Vision IR Lights” is toggled ON.
This is the mount I have.
It lights are turned on. I also have turned them off. No difference. I removed it from the housing and cleaned then lens and the sensor on the outside.
If it works as it should during the day wouldn’t that indicated that night vision should work as it should during the night? I have another cam outdoors and that one works as it should. Maybe I’ll try an swap them and see if the problem persists.
So, the last pic, that’s all black, is with you manually changing the camera to night mode?
Sorry, your response about lights isn’t clear.
If you go into Advanced settings for that camera is ‘Night Vision IR Lights’ On? If not, that is how the camera will work. It goes into Night Mode but won’t have lights.
Great looking yard, by the way. ![]()
The last photo ( the all black one) is the camera at night on “auto” night mode. If I turn off auto and switch to “on” there is no difference. If I then switch back “auto night mode”. Still same results. I have also pulled the camera way from the house as a thought maybe the light colored siding was messing with the quality, still no luck.
Thanks. Still a work in progress.
As @angus.black said,
→ With Night Vision mode either ON or on AUTO
→ And it is very dark outside.
→ And you have tried turning the IR lights ON and OFF
→ And there is no difference (still get your third image of darkness)
→ Then the IR lights are not functional
So two ideas:
- Maybe try a manual firmware flash in case something went wonky during an automatic firmware update (not unheard of when first setting up a cam):
- If that doesn’t bring your IR lights to life, it’s probably time to contact Wyze
Under the settings > advanced settings, there is a toggle for Night Vision IR lights. Is that on or off?
Is this supposed to read, “IR lights are turned on.” ?
Does the camera make a click when you toggle night vision on/off? It should make a sound when you do as it’s moving a physical IR filter in front of the lens. If the filter isn’t moving in front of the lens and the IR lights are on, you won’t see anything. I most likely suspect this is the issue.
Have you tried moving something right in front of the camera to see if it picks that up? Like walk as close as you can and see if you can see yourself.
Lastly, is you case all white around the lens? I have the same cases but mine are all black. White case around the lens can cause IR issues as well.
Great idea, I’ve a hunch that it’s camera related, not location
I think you need to check the settings under the advanced settings Tab.
