Infrared Light Placement

Based on many recommendations here, I purchased a Univivi IR Illuminator. Any recommendations on where to mount the IR light in relation to the cam? Should it be in line with it, above, below? Thanks!

Your needs will drive placement. The only thing guiding placement is to insure maximum illumination of the area you are interested in. Also the IR lights should NOT be aimed at the camera. In my case I mounted my illuminator below and in line with the camera as you can see from the picture.
