Kind of surprised I don’t see more complaints about the camera indicator lights being inaccurate. I know I had this problem before, kind of cleared up, but now it’s back. What is the proper function of the indicator light because it seems very hit and miss? Usually from the app it works correctly but not always. Often, I am viewing the cam and the light is blue, indicating no live view. Minutes later with the app closed its red and I am paranoid somebody else is viewing it. Yes I know they turn red when recording events, but I have that turned off.
When viewing from Alexa or live streaming from the website access the lights never turn red that I notice. What’s the point if the light only shows the cam is live from the app only “sometimes” when you can view the feed all day long without the app? The whole point of having the indicator lamp turned on in the cam is to know when your actively being watched and it just does not work.
This happens on my V3 cams, normal and pan. I don’t have anything else in use.
I believe it has been mentioned that with web view, the light doesn’t turn red when being viewed, and I’m assuming that would hold true for Alexa as well. Maybe someone else can confirm.
My lights behave as expected. When nothing is viewing it and no motion, it is solid blue. When viewing live stream, it is sold red the whole time. When an event is being logged it is red for like 5 seconds. If you have events disabled, I’m not sure if it will still turn red when it detects motion (subject to the 5 minute cooldown if you don’t have cam plus). I’ve never tried that.
When viewing SD card or cloud recordings, it should be blue.
If it isn’t turning red when viewing live stream, are you sure you’re actually seeing a live stream and not a frozen image or something?
Yes, I use one cam to see how much I snore or to figure out what woke me up. Often when I check other cameras in the app it won’t be red, even when when I am viewing the cam live a getting audio feedback and waiving at myself.
I shared some of my other cams outside. They don’t have access to the controls of the cam when shared to another account. But at times I was even talked to over the cam and had conversation even with a blue indicator light. Other times after closing the app on some cams that are not shared set up for motion or anything they were blue but turn red AFTER the app is closed usually with in 5 minutes like it was some kind of delay. The only thing they are set up for is recording 24/7 on a sd card, no notifications, no monitoring of any kind for sound or movement, no cam plus. It’s like when using the app and switching between cams they get confused.
I don’t get why have it at all if it does not work with streaming with Alexa or over the web. Obviously, the app is the most secure and not the weak spot, it’s more likely somebody would be able to get in on web access or will simply ask Alexa to drop in if they wanted and you would never know.
