I was able to add my wyze cam outdoor after i deleted it while offline i couldnt believe it i had been tring for days

I had been trying for days to add the wyze cam outdoor to my base station after i deleted it while it was offline . Ok so this is how i was able to do it .i had 2 other cameras hooked up to the base station and i deleted those while they were online and then i fully charged them and i tried to hook up the orihinal one that i couldnt add but it wouldnt let me so i tried the next one which is the recent one i deleted while online and was successful so i deleted it again while online ,so at this point there is no cameras on the base station and was about to add the one that was giving me trouble and i took out the memory card just to see what would happen and voila wyze came outdoor successful and then it asked my if i wanted to upgrade firmware and of course i said yes.So yeah try setting it up without the memory card.you guys are welcome.

Deleting it while offline I believe is recoverable. However if you factory reset one of the outdoor cams while offline, it is gone forever.

Why removing the SD card made a difference, not sure.

The SD in the cam has some WYZE files on it I have no idea what they are for. I know the directions for all my plug in cams say remove the SD prior to doing a reset. I also would not make it a habit of deleting the WCO cams while off line unless I needed a paper weight.

Can you use it as a door stop?

Sorry for derailing the thread but I couldn’t resist

The OP was lucky this time, the forum is full of post from users who deleted their WCO while off line and ended up with bricks.

Maybe they can build a wall

Yeah definitely if factory resetting any cam, pull the SD card, it wasn’t clear if OP was factory resetting or not (I’m assuming not since it did not turn into a brick).

Yeah I’m not recommending people do ANYTHING to those outdoor cams when they’re offline, just mentioning that’s probably the reason they did not turn into pretty bricks, they likely didn’t do a factory reset.

The WCO doesn’t really have a factory reset like the plug in cams. The WCO is just turn off/on the power switch on the back, then use the pairing button on the bottom to pair with the base.

So I guess it is the deleting from the app while offline that bricks them? Luckily seems OP didn’t do that, waited until they were online to delete and re-add them.
