How to delete individual videos from microSD card on Wyze OG Camera from iOS mobile app?
No way to do that from the app. You have to remove the SD and do it on a PC or device with a card reader.
Thank you. So when you’re away, either you lose all the recordings by formatting the microSD card from the mobile app or miss the important ones when you’re away.
This is good to know, as I got only two for testing and now am sure, not to buy any more for the entire property. Will need to look into local central storage type of system.
I don’t understand the need to delete individual videos. If you leave them on the card long enough they will get over written.
This was my thought, too.
Welcome to the Forum, @NotWise!
Good question. Here’s the scenario, you’re monitoring a remote property where you’re not physically going for a while. You want to retain some important videos on the microSD card but get rid of other videos. If you leave all, then as you rightly said, they will be overwritten, eventually. However, if one can delete the unwanted videos, then only the required ones are saved and available on the microSD card. This is very important for monitoring locations where you don’t often have periodic access to the local camera. The only other option is to pay up for online cloud storage. Hope this helps understand the requirement.
You can always download the important videos to your phone/tablet and never have to worry about being overwritten.
Thanks. I will see if that’s possible from the mobile app. If that works, it’ll do the job.
That won’t work, there’s a chance the good will get deleted, too. The delete logic is by date. The suggestion to download the ones you want saved, works.
Thanks
Could not locate any option in the app to download video from the microSD card! Probably not possible.

While watching the sd card video you hit “record” to record the clip to your phone. It isn’t quite the same as downloading it, it streams the video, and your phone records it. But it is the only way to remotely save a clip from being overwritten. If you have Cam Plus/Unlimited (paid subscription) then you can “download” the events directly to your phone, but not with SD card (not without pulling the card and putting it in your PC). A large enough SD card can get you a month or more of video space, that might be something to consider. However if there is a critical or important clip, I’d still record/download it in case the card dies, camera gets stolen, etc.
You could make a wishlist suggestion to be able to mark events as “do not overwrite” similar to how dash cams work. I wouldn’t hold my breath on it happening anytime soon though. There is also a wishlist item already to be able to access the cam SD over the network and download clips that way (you would use a VPN to do this while away). Doesn’t seem to have gained any traction though.
When you’re in playing the SD clip, look below the player for a row of buttons. One of them is, “Record”
Wow! That worked! Thank you. This does help a lot. The specs said max size was 256, that I got, should last a month as you said.
Thanks. That works. I thought the “Record” was to record current, but that’s what it does - records to the phone. Thanks!
There’s also a chance you might miss the recorded phone video; this bug hit me. What happens is that the Wyze app creates 2 files; one video and one image. And both have the same names but with different extensions.
People have succeeded with 512G cards in many cams, I haven’t tried it personally. But at some point it becomes overkill. On the OG with constant recording, 256 should get you somewhere just shy of a month. I use 128s as 2 weeks is plenty for me.
Just be aware the “record” option will reduce the quality a tad over the video file on the card itself, since your phone re-compresses the video a second time. It also often results in a much larger file (on the card the files are about 10 megabytes per minute, on the phone it often makes it much larger than that).
If it is a remote location and it is important to have events saved/stored safely, the relatively small cost of Cam Plus/Unlimited (especially if you buy a year at a time) is probably well worth it. That way if a cam gets stolen, damaged, SD card dies, etc you have 2 weeks of events stored in the cloud, and you can also download those events directly. I am not a subscriber so I can’t say if those cloud events are the same quality as the files on the card, but I suspect they may be.
If you go that route, the card is still useful, having a 24x7 recording as a backup in case an event gets missed etc is good (as is the longer storage period).
I believe that bug is only on Android (not 100% sure though).
