How do I setup geofencing?

Yep i sure do. Ok this is weird I was just walking home and entered the geo fenced area and my life 360 applet just fired for the first time saying it sees I entered the area and turned my camera off like it is suppose to! Which is weird why it would do that now. The big question is going to be does it do it when I’m headed out to work shortly ?

Hopefully it does, sometimes it gets finicky and you have to readd the service if it stops working

Hmm I hope so. Ya I guess that could be something I could do if it doesn’t work shortly when I leave my house.
Hopefully it works fingers crossed. Let you know how it goes.
don’t want to have to spend the money on a Arlo but I will if I have to getting this to work right.

I just discovered something when trying to setup 360 applet. I’ll send a screen shot.
It won’t let me setup a home location which could be the issue. It says no options Available even if I have a home location already setup in 360.

Not sure if you’ll be able to see the image or not. But that is the problem I think. Not sure if that’s because I don’t have anyone else setup in my 360 home location yet and just myself. But I wouldn’t think that would really matter?

Try going into the settings for the Life360 service on IFTTT and reconnect it, see if it will then show up

Nope didn’t work. Tried that and I still can’t select my home zone.
So sad this won’t work. Very weird

Ya. I can’t get life 360 on iOS to work right with wyze. Had no luck so far. Pls add native geo fencing!!! Pls…

Ridiculous that Wyze engineers don’t add geofencing if they want to compete with the likes of Yi.

I can’t get life 360 on iOS to work right with wyze

I’ve been using LIFE360, IFTTT and Wyze to turn notifications on/off for more than six months … on IOS. Works flawlessly with everything from an aging iPhone 5C to an iPhone Xs. You say that IFTTT trigger/action won’t let you choose a home location (already setup in Life360), have you tried to delete your HOME in Life360 and re-establish a Home setting with a larger/smaller circumference? I can assure you that LIFE360, IFTTT and WYZE works on IOS systems. After deleting and reestablishing your home location in LIFE360, log out and back into both IFTTT and WYZE app connection (inside IFTTT). What iPHONE are you using? What IOS? There has to be an easy answer.

I don’t think so … why not use a third party technology married to WYZE, rather than have WYZE try to add something as complicated as tracking multiple phone and locations?

Much better to piggyback on technology that already exists than to have WYZE reinvent, and more importantly, spend hundreds of hours creating and updating technology that other firms already do … and quite frankly, could do more efficiently and effectively in the future.

FYI, this is what WYZE did with its recently released PERSON DETECTION AI technology … and it makes perfect sense!

IMHO, the Life360 APP does a great job … not just with WYZE … but with all the tracking/location/mapping/history capabilities I would ever want to do, for myself, family and friends.

Oh wow I appreciate the info tod. I am using the latest iPhone. And I am pretty sure I deleted my home location and re added it already and it didn’t work. I will try logging out of ifttt as I think I already logged out life360 once with no luck. That is great to hear that it is working for you. I was starting to wonder if it would only work on Android.
I will also try changing the circumference around my home, but now that I think about it I think I already tried that to no avail. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Also I’m using the iPhone XS Max. And up until today I was on the latest version for iOS. Now it’s iOS 13 I’m on.

Ya this is a good point farihope. Makes sense what your saying about wyze adding it themselves. But frustrating dealing with another app that doesn’t seem to firing when I leave my home zone

Piggybacking almost always leads to problems as attested by this conversation. Simple is always best.

Geofencing, eh?

I have a Samsung Note phone and set it up so it automatically unlocks when I’m home. Even when Google map says I’m home, half the time my phone says I’m not.

I’m not going waste setting geofencing up with that kind of accuracy.

If you have an IFTTT compatible router, you can approach it from the other direction and trigger an action when you get home and your phone connects to it. This would only work for one phone though without additional fiddling.

It’s not just the lack of multi-person geofencing, which I agree makes more sense to utilize existing technologies rather than loading up the firmware with tools that not many will use.

The real problem is the utter lack of ANY geofencing on-board. The IFTTT solution doesn’t work consistently and for some not at all (like me). Wyze was slapped with the lack of geofencing from day one and have done NOTHING about it. This is years now that they have failed to provide the most basic of features. They just keep developing new “toys” to keep the masses mollified rather than fully realize the products they already have.

There is a wishlist topic to add this natively to the app. Hopefully it is coming for all devices as the lock uses a geofencing feature.

Are you writing about the one in the IFTTT app, or the separate Life360 service? The one in the IFTTT app has been updated in the past few days.

How to accomplish geofencing now when you only have 3 free applets with IFTTT?

Location triggering Wyze cams with Alexa isn’t supported.
