Greyed out Playback button on Wyze App

I installed a Cam v3 upgraded with latest firmware v4.36.11.8391 (January 16, 2024), Android app v2.49.0.386 (January 25, 2024). And the Playback button is greyed out on the Events page. Formatted the card 3 times and rebooted the cam twice. Still bugged. Are u telling me this is STILL an ongoing issue since July 2022?? Seriously?

Still not working!! Any update from Wyze on this? I’m a brand new user to Wyze cameras, open it up to find this major bug. Event playback almost unusable without this button.
Cam: Wyze Cam Pan v3, version 4.50.4.8409
Pluginn ver: 2.49.0.12
Wyze App ver: 2.49.0.386

I have the same issue. Just installed a new Wyze Cam 3 but the playback button is greyed out when in the Events menu. It is recording to SD card, but I have to manually search for the clip going through a different menu.
I have multiple cameras from before and the playback button works on those.

I have the latest firmware version - 4.36.11.8391

Button was working fine yesterday… Now grayed out.

just another money hungry company, if they didnt fix it after 2 yrs, either there engineers dont know what there doing or they want you to pay extra for the plus service.

sad wyze used to be a good company.

My friend installed a V3 cam above his garage today and the night vision is great.

Unfortunately, the playback icon is grayed out. We formatted the SD card but we still cannot get playback to work. He shared the cam with me and I see it is greyed out on my side. If I share my V3, my friend sees my playback is not greyed out on my cam but gets told he cannot not do that on a shared cam. So the button works but not with his cam. I talked him into buying one cam so I have nothing else to compare it with. Tomorrow I plan to remote into his phone to verify settings for myself.

Any insights besides what is written in this thread?

He has the latest updates on the cam and his Android app. Looks like the easier fix is to return it?

It’s a firmware issue. You need to downgrade Cam v3 firmware to v4.36.9.139 from 2022-05-18. The Playback button starts working properly immediately after you downgrade.

2 YEARS, and they still can’t fix a firmware bug. Wyze is a joke.

Thank you for providing that option. It’s odd that I am on the same firmware with no issue on my 7 cams. Maybe he got a bad copy, but then too many people seem to encounter this issue over the last two years.

I already downgraded to v4.36.9.139, still grayed out. Unfortunately it doesnt solve it.

I have two v3 cams. One has the grayed out issue, the other doesn’t. Both on firmware v4.36.9.139. Both same settings. Both were working fine and then for absolutely no reason, one cam started having this grayed out issue. I didnt change anything. Literally no reason.

I tried removing it from my devices and factory reset and re-adding it as a new device and even a new SD card… Still grayed out! I think Wyze just randomly picks cameras [Mod Edit]. Stay away from this company.

Anyway I think Wyze just randomly picks cameras and screws with them. Once your camera gets screwed (and it will), you’re screwed. Stay away from this company.

Now i just removed the camera from my account. Then deleted my entire account. Created a new account with a new email address, added the “screwed” cam to my new account and still… Button is grayed out! Added my 2nd cam (that hasnt been screwed by wyze yet) and that one works with playback button clickable.

I wonder how long it will be until this cam gets screwed too.

@notbad are you sure you were able to get youf playback butyon un-grayed? Here is what ive done with no success:

-downgraded firmware
-factory reset cam
-deleted the cam and re-added it as new
-deleted my entire account and created a new account with a new email
-switched the sd card

Why? Because this camera has been screwed by wyze… And to whomever is reading this… soon yours will be screwed too. Sooner or later, youll be posting in this thread just like all us others over the last 2 years. Yes… 2 years and this problem is ongoing… Because guess what? It’s NOT a problem. Right,Wyze?

I guess I should lower my expectations on a fix. A return for another purchase sounds likely. Bummer.

The 2022 firmware is not even downloadable now… how are we to even try and fix this issue in 2024?

Post back here if the firmware solves it for you. Because for me, not.

Solved my issue by buying a new cam and returning the defective one. If it is out of warranty, trash it and rebuy the $35 cam to avoid the aggro. Be glad you didn’t pay more.

The only issue is that my cam was brand new and working fine. Then, just a few days ago (for no apparent reason) the playback button got grayed out and that was the end of that.

So while your playback button is working now… That doesnt mean it will be working tomorrow, or the day after, or next week, or next month. One random day, it will get grayed out. If it happened to me, it can happen to you too. Other people aldo mentioned in this thread. Button was working fine, then suddenly grayed out.

I fully understand what you are saying. I have had V2 cameras for years and purchased some V3 cams. So far my luck has held out. My friend got a bad cam out of the box new. If I encounter this problem myself on an old cam, I will trash it and buy another. If this issue hasn’t been resolved in a couple more years I will have to find another brand.

I was having gray button issues randomly on my six cameras. Tried different cards, still same issue. But ever since I switched to Samsung Pro Endurance cards I’m having no issues and it has been more than four months with no problems. Do you all use Samsung endurance cards and how does that work for you?

Unfortunately, This is exactly what “they” want. Thats why they dont fix it, thats why they dont even post in this thread. Yet, They know about it.

Samsung Endurance Pro for me too. Doesnt solve a thing.
