Formatting large SD cards

Dave, yes I know what you mean. I mentioned the second software in my original post, named - Mini Tool Partition Wizard, for formatting to other file system . I agree that the SD Card Formatter will not work for changing the file system from FAT32 to exFAT, and this sort of things.

Yes it is a very useful utility as it sets the card up exactly to spec, which not every manufacturer does (or does correctly) when they make the card. Even some versions of Windows could mess it up.

It is the only thing I use for formatting SD cards and thumb drives usually.

That’s actually a good thing, most OS installers will take your large thumb drive or SD card and change them to a 32GB partition so they can have a bootable FAT32 file system. Most users would have a heck of a time undoing that, but this utility does it automatically with one quick click. And it is a quick and easy way to undo that when you do it yourself intentionally (for example you want to manually reload wyze firmware which requires a small FAT16 partition).
