You have to remember, a majority of Anazon reviews are within a few days of purchasing the product. Generally people don’t go back a year later to revise their reviews. They come here instead.
No, they don’t all have the same issue.
I don’t know then
. The probability of all 4 having hardware issues seems low to me unless they were all purchased at the same time and were part of a bad batch? If the hardware was that poor I would expect lower ratings on amazon and also from people who review tech gadgets professionally.
What are your various issues?
I agree with angus. black, people buy them, set them up using only, or mostly default features. Everything looks good. Later when they decide to use more of the “features” problems start to arise, recording problems, notifications, etc, etc… The possible causes, of course, are various; software, firmware, hardware, user, Other than user errors, I’m thinking most problems are in the firmware. They are updating it too frequently and the updates are not just to add new “features”, but to correct problems. My main gripes are about dependability inconsistency. I decided I had a Wyze problem when I decided to try a Yi 1080P Home cam. I bought one and it worked reliably and flawlessly for a few weeks, so I bought 2 more at $22.49 each from Amazon, $3+ cheaper than Wyse.
My 3 Yi cams have replaced my Wyze cams as my main monitors because they have been consistently reliable in event recording and giving notifications Since they are using the same router, etc that my Wyze Cams use. (the Wyze Cams were installed first and had the system to itself). The Yi Cams continue to operate flawlessly alongside the Wyse Cams on the same system. so, I am thinking Yi has better system communication firmware, which includes the router and SD card recording firmware.
I am not trying to diss Wyse. Their Android app has more options than the Yi app and potentially more uses. If only I could depend on it.
Ah, the Island of Misfit Toys.
The two cameras I have using SD cards have been recording continuously for almost two years without issue. What reliability problems are you seeing? I moved away from using the in camera pixel detection as it generates a lot of false alerts from things like shadows and bugs and went with sense PIR triggered events. When I do use the on camera detection it seems to work properly even with all the false alerts since the shadows are changing the pixels.
Notifications I have noticed some inconsistencies on Android although I don’t believe that it is related to the hardware. When the phone is left alone for a while, notifications can be delayed as android goes into a “sleep/doze” mode to conserve battery and a flood of notifications can come in if I manually wake my phone. If the phone is “awake” notifications come in quickly and reliably. I believe that Google is partially at fault for this as I notice similar behavior in other apps (Gmail) but this should be fixable by wyze since some apps have no problem waking the phone.
If your upload is slow notifications might seem delayed as well since the notification is sent once the video is fully uploaded and ready to view. The longer it takes to upload the longer it will take to receive the notification.
If having notifications come in almost instantly is a requirement I can see that being a problem for some people, especially android users.
I’m happy for you.
The oldest Wyse Cam I have is ~3 yrs old, the newest a few weeks old. I have had various problems over time. Mostly ones frequently mentioned in the forums. The main problem is reliability. I’m old, retired, and mainly locked down because of Covid19, so I have nothing better to do than check my Wyze and Yi camera apps when I get up in the morning. With Wyze there is always a chance of surprise:“Oh, I didn’t get any Event Notifications”, “Why is the Night Vision still on? I have it set to auto”. “Why does my patio cam say “No SD Card””, Why is my Front Door Cam displaying an odd pink cast" etc etc.
My Yi Cams have given me no “surprises”
Ahh I see that there are variety of issues you are having. The pink hue definately sounds like a hardware problem with the IR filter. For the SD card not recognized the only thing that comes to mind that you may not have already tried is putting the SD card in a computer and formatting using Sandisks format tool. I have not tried it myself but if I recall correctly some users here, or it might have been in the facebook group fixed some issues they were having by formatting with that tool.

I am sorry, I have to say: DUH
As much as I hate to say it, I too just bought into the Kasa line and am very pleased by the integration and quality of the products. The technical support is excellent as well. Wyze has certainly been cost-effective. But, these forums appear to be nothing more than people complaining about the same things over and over with NO ADDRESSING by Wyze after years of reporting. For example, the simple issue of being able to VIEW MICRO SD CARD PLAYBACK on a shared account has been requested since 2018 with ZERO results. Wyze is serving to frustrate its users and the competition is slowly pulling away. I no longer install Wyze equipment because of the lack of feature support and now only install the Kasa line for my customers. I wish Wyze would really pay attention because the products are well-priced. They just hand-cuff installers with their limitations.
I understand your pain. I will look into Kasa.
