Fast Forward/Rewind (and other scrubbing alternatives) In SD Card Playback

It’s very nice having 2x , 4x on cam plus, but it should be easy & extremely useful to also have 8x and 16x. What’s even more important is to have this feature on SD card playback! If you need funding for this, you could always have the feature limited to camplus subscribers! That would be a huge selling point for me, especially since the 2x4x feature on camplus is currently fairly, since camplus event clips are always so short and not 5 minutes like promised!

Would be extremely helpful. It seems it would be an important feature to get added… I just got the system a few days ago and tried multiple times to find a fast forward and finally stumbled on this article. Searching through playback is rough.

I voted for this too. I have two indoor Eufy cams and one Wyze 3 cam. My Eufy cams offer increased playback speeds for viewing continuous footage on my SD cards and it’s a very helpful timesaver. I’ve thought about purchasing another Wyze cam but various issues such as this cause me to be reluctant to do so.

This feature should be a no Brainer! I find it hard to understand why this option isn’t available. I see no response from Wyze. I’m not sure how much good comes from the Wyze App. I know many items forum members are able to assist in, but when they can’t Wyze should step in. Seems like Wyze doesn’t even monitor their own forum. While I’m reasonably happy with my camera I won’t be considering more services, like security, until they address this issue. I know some owners have come up with some convoluted work arounds. But I’m not interested in becoming a computer programmer, this should be available in the app.

They do monitor this forum and have actually replied a couple of times. “Looking into it as a future add” but nothing ever since. Personally i feel like they don’t care as its not generating new revenue. Sad for us long time user’s.

This is my #1 request. It’s really hard to find something if you don’t know exactly when it happened.

Can you include a feature that lets us view playback at faster speeds, up to 32x? I use it as a security camera and would love to be able to quickly go through and review all of the footage overnight that was saved onto the memory card. Thanks in advance.

It would be a nice added ‘help’ item for adding a speed selector for the playback mode in the app…ala…the same as the speed selector for event playback(1x…2x…etc). It would allow a quicker and easier playback review of camera history from the SD card storage from the app. It seems it would be easy to implement this add on in the app, as it already exists for event playback. The selector could just be added to the playback screen in the app. Obviously this would only be available if an SD card is being used and continuous recording is selected.
Note: (I have all my cameras with SD cards installed and set to continuous recording).

SO Wyze is trying to use events as clips. I’ve been using Wyze Cam Plus for over the past month or so. And I’m realizing that the clips are actually not that helpful. So many times I get movement from trees or the tale end of someone walking their dog, things tagged as people when they aren’t. Also MISSED events! I’m always going back into the timeline to try and see what really happened.

I feel like they are going about events all wrong, instead of cutting them out of the timeline as a separate clip (since its unreliable to expect 100% accuracy all the time anyways) instead make the timeline a complete picture with sections highlighted as an events that can be tapped on to jump into that section but still have what was before or after on the sides. Make the timeline easier to scrub through and give us more control over the full footage.

We are never going to have perfect events everytime, but you know what is always consistent, the full timeline. Make that experience better.

What you’ve described is exactly how Ring does it with their doorbells. I don’t know if they do the same with their cameras but I would assume they would use the same interface. You can scrub the timeline 24/7 (the camera takes a snapshot at one minute intervals when it is idle), and motion events are indicated as recordings along the timeline, so it’s easy to move back & forth to pinpoint what you want to see.

Wyze doesn’t care! They’ve moved on. Its sad.

Please combine this with a better control over playback of recorded events. Currently, i can play and pause, and when i drag the slider in the video back, it starts playing right away, making freezing the video at a specific frame basically impossible. The easiest fix would be to not make the video do auto-play when one drags the slider back in time of the recording. Better is also providing buttons to forward or rewind frame-by-frame.

Well, if it does catch an event, you can go to the timeline by clicking the “playback” icon on the event page. From there it will take you to the full timeline, but play at the time of the event.

This doesn’t help the poor video navigation functionality, but it gets you to the full timeline from an event.

Thought: two buttons. one to scrub forward and another to scrub backwards

Hello
Love Wyze products. Please add variable playback. I am currently manually reviewing video for a missing 15-year old neighborhood girl. The police have identified a 4 hour window when she was last seen. The Wyze app does not make the video review process easy. In times like these, it would be handy to review the 4 hours in a more efficient way. This request is over 3 years old. Please make this feature a reality. Wyze can do better.
Thank you

Yes, good call out. It jumps to the point on the timeline but if you adjust it in anyway there’s no telling if you are still on that event or not. For example, if you want to view what happens after the end of the event good luck fine tuning it to that section. The whole experience just needs to be thought through better. #wyzecandobetter

Need a playback fast forward when watching the day that hasn’t been recorded on events. Takes too long to watch and regular speed

Fast forward is a must have for playback, otherwise no one has enough time to go through hours of recorded videos everyday to find needed video clips. A 30-times faster forward can reduce 2 hours video to just 4 minutes. Without Fast Forward, the recorded videos are pretty much useless, just like trying to find a needle in the ocean.

A fast forward and reverse feature would help so much with the reviewing of videos.

Or maybe movement markers on the videos to know when things moved.

I highly recommend this improvement it would push you over the top with your rivals.
