Duo Cam Doorbell 'Device Offline' issue?

Let me start a new thread here especially for this issue. I almost never have any net connection issues with my v3 cams over my garage at the back of the property. Now after resetting this doorbell, frequent problems with losing net connection seeing “device offline” when my pc’s phone and tv have no net connection issues.

My Verizon router is right here in this front room with the doorbell located just on the outside of this room so not far away. I have tried Restart Device which fails and also Reset services which doesn’t solve the issue. Any ideas to fix this issue now please?

I don’t know which Verizon router you have, but I used to have one and I replaced it; it isn’t any good. Usually ISP routers are mediocre.

Is the Duo connected to a 5ghz or 2.4ghz band?

So you are pulling the battery to get it back online I take it? As those options won’t work until you can communicate with the doorbell (it can’t be offline)

2.4ghz. It was working fine before the battery went dead and I had to remove the battery and then Add new device. It then worked for a couple days ok then all of a sudden now it shows Device Offline.

Nothing has changed with my network so I don’t get why this is happening now?

I don’t understand why you have to add it again as a new device. It isn’t necessary. Put the battery back on and it should work again.

I was following Wyze Support agent’s instructions over the phone.

And that’s the problem.

So I removed the doorbell to bring it inside intending to place right next to the router to see if it is a wireless issue. But seems the battery is dead again so I am assuming that should be the reason for the Offline issue.

This begs the questions why did the battery after being fully re-charged would drain this quickly even with optimized settings?

Also, why would the battery run dead ‘this quickly’ while being hardwired to the transformer?

The dead battery might not have been fully charged. It happened to me.

The battery has 2 LEDs; when I saw one bright LED, I thought it was already charged. It wasn’t, there should be 2 LED lights. The battery died shortly.

I am aware of the dual light in the battery when charging, they both had showed solid. It was showing 100% charged before connecting the transformer to it. Then it was showing that the hardwired transformer was active.

So this time, if any tips from anyone to try not draining the battery unnecessarily, I would appreciate it?

All I need from this doorbell is to be notified on my phone whenever the doorbell is pressed and to record only person and packages events as accurately as possible. I have a 128gb SD card in the doorbell to keep recording only the last 24 hours in case I should ever need to review.

It should be impossible for the battery to run down if you have it hardwired then. That should keep it constantly charged. Mine stays at 100% like this. It’s one of the problems with this setup the battery will go bad, as it’s never used (“exercised”) as it’s kept at 100% all the time.

How long does it take to go offline?
When you pull the camera off the base, and it’s offline does the battery show it’s charging? (This would indicate it’s getting power from the transformer).

Sorry I am not understanding. When I took the camera off it’s base this morning, I removed the battery and it’s been charging since 9am so now almost close to 7 hours without the 2nd smaller light not being lit yet.

Whenever I should see the 2nd light solid I can insert back into the camera and report on any testing you would like me to try ‘before’ putting it back on it’s base?

It’s my experience that the Duo’s (and BCP’s) battery charges slowly. I anticipated this and I ordered a spare along with the original order.

I ordered another spare for my BCPs and Wyze shipped it with USPS. It got lost. I filed a claim with USPS and got approved, and according to USPS website, it has been paid.

I haven’t received any payment, maybe they paid Wyze? I should order from Amazon. Issues like this are resolved faster with them.

I want to be done with battery and wireless connection issues as this is the 4th or 5th doorbell I have tried over the last few years. I am now currently looking into POE doorbell options.

So if I should have to buy a new battery for this, I may as well try a POE doorbell and try reselling all of my other doorbells on ebay.

Ok so it took 8 hours to charge, now seeing 2 solid lights and on the Home screen, the LED shows full.

I put the battery in and it connected immediately so you guys were correct, there was no need at all to have Add New Device.

Ok then, let’s see what happens tomorrow or next week and I will report back. You all have a safe and enjoyable holiday w/e

You do what works for you. In my case, I still have the old, manual doorbell. I give people a choice so what do they do? They knock on the door.

I have the peephole mount for the DUO. I can still use the peephole and use the Duo’s lower camera to visually check for packages. I always have a charged spare battery, it takes at most 5 minutes to swap batteries. It takes about 7~8 weeks before I have to do that. It’s not too bad.

Right thanks but how often do you have to swap batteries?

Every 7~8 weeks for me. It depends on how many events it records.

Thanks but yeah, that is the issue for me as I have swollen finger joints due to having psoriatic arthritis. This makes it very cumbersome and difficult for me to detach, then have to screw the 2 terminals, then reattach .

So for that reason, I need one that is continuously powered plus has no wireless networking issues.

I still don’t get why this battery would run dead quickly while being powered by the transformer but…

Oh yes, forgot that part, thanks!
