Just received my doorbell camera.
Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this on installation.
The instructions say a 5/16 drill bit is needed.
I used correct size and now the anchors that were supplied are like putting a hot dog in a hallway. Not even close to being big enough To touching the sides.
2 holes are now in my siding.
5/16 is a good size hole too. What a bummer! Maybe you can fit some larger wall anchors in those holes so you can get the doorbell mounted?
I am not excusing Wyze for faulty instructions, but for anchor screws i always Eyeball the screw next to my drill bit. I start with a small drill bit because i want the threads to have bite into the wood.
Always quick and easy to make my hole slightly bigger if needed.
I don’t have a Wyze Doorbell, but can you go to a hardware store and get different size achor screws that fit your hole?

That blows about the holes in your siding, and I’m also seeing this in Battery Video Doorbell’s Quick Start Guide (QSG):
To screw the doorbell to the wall, a 5/16 inch drill bit is required.
Since I didn’t use the wall anchors that came with my Battery Video Doorbell, I pulled them out of the package and measured one with a caliper and saw ~0.23″, which is roughly 15⁄64″, so I agree that the QSG instructions are wrong. I did not try walking through the in-app installation to see what that says, but I imagine that might also be incorrect.
I do the same. I often use a much smaller bit for a pilot hole out of habit, but for the hole that’s actually supposed to fit the anchor I place the anchor next to several bits until I find one that looks like an appropriately snug match. 
I’m going to ping someone at Wyze about this, because I think they should review this QSG and in-app setup, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the same mistake has crept into other products’ documentation, as well.
I should have double checked instead of just drilling away. Thats on me.
I cut some zip ties into pieces and filled the holes in. Pushed the anchors in and used some bigger screws than provided. Should hold…
Yeah the nice thing about that style of anchor is you can find thick ones with small holes or just wrap it in electrical tape or whatever to take up the space.
Worst case, a toggle anchor will work with pretty much any size hole.
I think in one case I used epoxy to fill the hole, gave it a day to cure, then drilled a smaller hole for the screw (no anchor in that case, hence not being able to use anchor tricks), and it held fine. I would guess it would work with an anchor too. But you need enough material around the hole for the epoxy to bond to. Wood putty, spackle, etc obviously isn’t strong enough.
