I have siding on my house and had enough wiring to extend out to the db duos. I fashioned a wedge from a small piece of siding that sits behind the db plate to slightly move it away from the siding but with a disguised look affect. It was a little challenging to route the wiring thru the wedge to the db to make the connections but I succeeded. I did post photos in a previous conversation and would be happy to repost if asked. I did this for both front and back duos. The wedges do give the duos a slight angle but my placement was perfect from where the previous db was mounted.

Yes. Good memory on my original post. I also had to drill a new hole in the plate to compensate for the wedge and the original db wiring hole to fit the mounting location and where the db 2’s were located.
I thought I’d seen that before when I saw the mentions of “siding” and “wedge”. Forum search to the rescue: @fmills1d siding wedge with:images!
I do like how clean that solution is. Looks good! ![]()
I don’t have siding, so that’s not going to be a way for me to create space. I have plenty of wiring at the doorbell button location. My issue is that I need space to tuck it into behind the Duo Cam Doorbell itself, and its Back Plate doesn’t really allow for that, so I think I’m basically going to want a spacer with a reduced angle (maybe not totally flat) to conceal and protect the wires.
Thank you for reminding me and for sharing that! ![]()
How about a shim where you cut a tunnel down the middle of it to conceal the wiring?
What time zone are you in? I’m EDT and it’s 2 am and you’re still engaged.
CDT for now. I hope someday the powers that be will decide that needs to stop and allow us to be on permanent Standard Time.
I should make better decisions about how I use my time. ![]()
I should also try to grab a nap before I go bleed later this morning.
I realized that I failed to answer this question before. Sorry 'bout that.
Because of my positive experience with the 3D-printed solution for my Video Doorbell v2, I think I’ll just do that. The doorbell wiring is coming through a piece of window trim beside a sidelight, and I could do a wooden shim or something similar and paint it to match, but with a 3D model I can modify that in CAD to the depth and angle I want and then go fabricate it at the library in whatever filament color I choose. There are also things like covers available for the doorbell camera that could be printed in different colors, and @spamoni has created an example of that.
