Door or window sensor for mailbox

So has anyone had an entry sensor on their mailbox to notify them when the mail has come? Just an idea I want to try out. But my question is does the entry sensors require a hub?

In order to use the Wyze Contact Sensors. you do need to have the Wyze Hub Sense 2.

Here is a starter pack on Amazon

I have a Wyze contact sensor inside my package delivery box. When the box lid is opened it triggers three other Wyze devices to alert that a package has been delivered or the lid has been opened. It works great. My Wyze Chime will ring and my Wyze Light Strip Pro turns on along with a short video upload to the cloud. Here is my automation setup.

I tried to put a V1 contact sensor on my mailbox. But it could not connect to the hub due to the distance and obstructions. It was also a metal mailbox.

I have not tried using a V2 sensor though.

Why do I need a keypad? Just curious?

You don’t it comes with the pack.

If you subscribe to the Home Monitoring Solution (HMS), the Keypad will be usable at that point. You can then turn on and off your home security via the keypad

I use YoLink motion sensor in my metal mailbox. They have 1/4 mile coverage. Works great and produces a voice message telling me the mailbox was opened. Also triggers a Wyze cam to do a 12 second recording.
